im inheriting (its free baby) a nice little HP laptop (its sick actually) and i want to turn it into a sampler, sound library, editor - im thinking about reformatting the whole thing - putting Kontakt in there and just do the damn thing, sequencing it from my MPC running the outs through my mixer and recording to pro tools like i do already. but im worried about the sound difference between the MPC and a soft sampler....

Is it all about the I/O your using in regards to the sound, what i mean is - it doesnt matter what soft sampler you use as long as the outs are bangin? and what would be a tight little firewire thing i could use if i go this route. i want to have multiple outs - would i need a MOTU or something?

Why do you have both kontact and halion? Don't they pretty much have the same features, or am I way off?
Info would be nice!

kanotackt and halion have same features, i perfer halion. I am going to try mach 5 next. I just like to spend money on software. I am crazy.

I use an edirol um 880. but am downgrading to this, because the edirol is overkill.
