Dual monitors setup Q??

So for every 4 monitors, that would require 2 dual monitor video cards...right (unless you're going for the more expensive quad versions)?

And if that's the case, where would that leave for options if someone wanted to add other pci/pci-e devices?

I know at that point everything else will be based on usb & firwire correct?

I think ideal solution would be having one or two of those nvidia quadro or whatever they called video cards that support two monitors on each output by using special splitter cable they come with. so you would need 2 of them to support 8 monitors at once...or couple of readon 6990 series support up to 4 monitors on single card

dab, they're cheaper alternatives to that card...if you're interested towards the middle of the website it breaks down what model supports what amount of displays

Yeah, I kinda figured that. I once had owned an ATI graphics card and loved it. Bare in mind it wasn't anything near what's offered these days, but it def produced some astonishing pics from what I can remember.

I'm using nvidia these days because of budget reasons. Now since the idea of building a viable hackintosh comp is on my horizon and I already have most of the components, a decent ATI graphics card would finalize the hardware portion of this thing.

One of my hd's that I'm sitting on atm is a wd raptor 10k rpm. It's the 300g version, but the I/O bus speed is only 3 gbit/s, and the one I want does 6 gbits/s and has more capacity.

I hear ya man, you on the right track...I did quite bit of reasearch on hackintosh and seem like ATI is the way to go for least problematic setup..


I got the hard drive you talkn about in my i7 pc as primary hard disk, about couple of weeks ago after owning and using it for 3 and half years it kicked the bucket...I gotta package that sucker and ship back to manufacturer.


I wish I didnt buy that hard disk when I built the rig and for the money of single volociraptor should have gone with 2 Samsungs F3 in raid 0 instead. better performance and more capacity for the money. not the mention hard disk was annoying loud in comparison to other hard disks I've dealth with over the past

with the ssd prices drastically dropping I'd take a good look at 120GB model or 240 for primary and bigger hard disk for storage or if you want top performance couple smaller drivers in raid.

Whhhaaaaat...you too? It didn't take mine that long for it to hit the bucket. Like you, I used it as my primary as well. I was only into a few months of using it when one day my rig started acting wierd. Then soon after that it just locked up on me one day. So after rebooting, I got the message that I didn't have an os to boot to.

The rest is pretty much what you're getting ready to do which I was surprised it didn't take wd long to replace that joint for me. So as of now, that's why I haven't installed it since I've had it replace.

I'll take that advice on the raid config if and when I decide to grab two bigger & faster raptors, or settle for two high capacity black versions of their interprise caviars.

fact that yours took a shit too is not a good indication for this particular hard disk, now more than ever I regret paying premium for that junk!
