How to hook up my laptop

I'm just curious I have an MPC 2000xl, EPS 16+ and mixer,etc. Anyways, my question I know I need a soundcard, but is that all I need to hook it up. I got some software and it said Midi so I copped a midiman, but right after I was like am I retarded, did I purchase the right thing. Anyways I would be so happy for some help.

If having a laptop studio and being portable is important to you, check out a firewire audio interface. They are bus powered meaning you can just carry a small interface and a firewire cable with your laptop. M-Audio makes the FW410, they are a few other good ones out there.

well a laptop, get a echo indigo i/o sound card and you are set. $170 and it gets the job done.
