Trouble with Alesis Q25 Help!

Bought new Q25 but when midi connected to MPC 1000 the notes/keys choose which bank it wants to draw from the MPC how do I program the Q25 to pull from bank A or whatever bank I want. Right now some keys trigger bank A some trigger bank B some C ANNNNDDD!!! to top all that the modulation and pitch on the Q25 isnt working What am I doing wrong Seems like decent keyboard for 43 dollars but programming is drivin me nuts!!!

If I understand the problem.. it's because the mpc's pads (which are basically square rubber shaped keys) are not in the standard right order... you will need to change what pad triggers what note on the mpc.

essentially, you would want it so the first key triggers the first pad of bank A, the 16th key should trigger pad 16... then the 17th key should trigger the first pad of bank B.. (the transpose button on keyboards is basically the same thing as the pad bank button)

Im guessing on your mpc, you should be able to find that setting in the program page of your mpc.

It's at least somewhere to start now I will have to pull out my mpc manual lol to figure how to do that for each pad but at least I can stop pulling out my hair (a strand at a time) Fingers crossed What about the modulation and pitch wheel piece shouldnt they be waorking no fun if I cant play with that...

just take a look in the screen where you assign samples to the pads. You should see something that tells you the note number of the pad along with what sample will be loaded etc.. it should take you a minute to check... if you dont find it then check the manual.

Thanks again the only thing is the Q25 has no real manual It just tells u what the keys are I will go online for the MPC manual to see if it would help I am in 1800 miles away form my actual manual so online it is. It shouldnt be this hard (should it No luck with the mod/pitch wheel I would really hate to get rid of this thing Guitar center hate a greart online price of $43 so I cant beat As it is Ive just been changing the smaples on whatever bank it pulls up but not really consistent while I am trying to do a baseline or creat a consistent drum kit Thanks much again and I am open to any more feedback or help I wont stop til I get it!!

I don't believe that the MPC stock OS will respond to pitchbend and mod wheel messages.

JJOS does, though.

JJOS2XL also rearranges the MIDI assignments to be in order, instead of the "random" arrangement that the AKAI OS uses (which I believe has to do with the general MIDI percussion note assignments: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_MIDI )

i saw this thread and hooked up my dusty ole alesis q25 to the 1k and it does the same thing, seems to pull sounds randomly from the 4 banks on the mpc

i went into program mode and hit the note button but this didnt seem to allow me to change what key on the alesis would trigger what pad on the mpc

didnt see anything in the manual about specifically programing a midi device. then i figured it would be in the same area where you program the pads like mode + program but no luck there either

yeait sucks it works good with my cpu and mashine but there are mpc limitations

the 2000 classic has a setting for it.. but i've never tried it.. it involves pushing open window on the main screen's midi out where you choose the output... maybe the stock akai os could be similar? I suppose the manual might say. I dont see why it wouldn't be available on the 1000.
