BEST WAY TO SAVE YOUR BEATS ON A MPC 2000XL

Pardon for the caps, but why do people make such a big deal over capitilized words?? Staring at a computer screen for hours doesnt hurt eyes, but CAPS does?! lol, wow.... but no doubt. If it's etiquete, i will oblige... Now getting back to business at hand....

true, but also remember to create a new directory for each beat.....that is, make a folder for each beat....then just do save all inside that folder; do this just incase you create two sounds with the same name,you dont accedential overwrite one of them.

I disagree the best and most effient way to go about it is to have two folder in your zip drive
1. PRG&SNDS <--here goes all your PGM and APS files this way u dont have mutliple copies of the same drums if use them again. just remember NOT to give them the same names.
2. ALL&SEQ <-- here is all your sequnce files, ALL files etc

Remember to have ALL file and APS the same name so u can know what is what.

Advantages of this is you can make alot of programs on their own and load them up and if the are used for one song u can bunch them all in one APS. the same if u had individual sequences or mid's for the ALL file.

I might use my a few Kicks from a program and snares from another and forget the names but cause i got a APS that knows where they are i dont need to go finding them.

Disadvantages Decide what you want to save your SOUNDS as SND or WAV cause it will make copies in both formats if u forget what your working in.. EG Kick.Snd and Kick.WAV

^^^^I completely agree with you....

i like just making a new folder for each beat, even if i save bass sounds, or drums twice, because that way i can just open a folder and its all there, especially with the renaming stuff, i dont ever name my samples. I like the fact of knowing that all the sounds for that beat, are in one folder, and cant get overwritten by "accidentally" forgeting to change a name, or whatever.

so really depends on how lazy you are, and how trusting you are on organizing your sounds....but i gotta try what you said.

If I could offer one tip on organization, you said it. For real, thats the way to do it.
