Novation Bass Station 2

The original Bass Station or as I used to call it, "the Treble Station" was the first analogue synth I bought in 1994.

This looks a bit better.

I own this synth. It's sounding incredibly well. It proves to everyone that hardware is still better than software (i own Diva too, which is considered one of the very best soft synth).
The interface is great for everything except i don't like the shared modulations. I also own a minibrute. It sounds very different, awesome too, the interface is simpler but it is also better overall because you have all your patch in front of you, nothing hided.

Anyways, when i create music these days, i need 2 things : my MPC and my bass station 2. Other things are welcome additions but these 2 are my basics.

I'd only before seen the demos at musikmesse and such, and they were terrible. Plus their attempt at doing the same thing arturia did with the minibrute, but less fun, less interesting, less demonstrative of the synth, bleh:


Nick's demo is a bit more substantial, the bassstation doesn't sound as bad as I had thought.
But the multi-function knobs still kill it for me, I'd take my minibrute any day over this in that respect. No presets, but none really needed when it's so easy to dial in a patch with the knob-per-function controls.

but hey, personal preference.

That's exactly what I thought when I clapped eyes on the GRP A4 the other day. Not in the flesh though unfortunately. Another thing to add to the wish list.

So who else has got one of these? I'm feeling like I wanna buy something new for the studio and have been steered towards this over a microbrute/minibrute or minitaur.

Would be used mainly for bass lines but obviously the more well rounded one is the more appealing it may be.

I ve got. the minibrute which is in my eyes a modern classic. I ve player the bass station 2 in the store and compared it with the sub Phatty. And i Must say irreverent the bass station over the phatty. They ve made a instant "good" sounding synth. It s a bit brave, While the brute can sound "brutal & dirty". Too me it is a bread & butter synth for good sounding analog sounds. I thinks it s really underrated I hope I get a second hand bass station 2 soon...
