daw sample chop + mpc 1000

i've never liked the mpc 1000 chopping feature and i prefer to a see more in-depth visual of the chop on a PC screen (plus, my samples go through the PC first because my turntable is usb)

my question is... is there a daw capable of letting the user zoom in and manually chop a sample and send each chop to a drumpad (that fits 16 pads) built into the daw that can be triggered by the MPC 1000 pads, via MIDI?

this way all my samples could stay in the pc and I could use the MPC 1000 for triggering, sequencing the triggered samples, use 16 levels and mute grouping, etc. , correct?

Ableton is also a good alternative with the drum rack sampler that has a MPC-like interface. You just drag the samples to the pads of the drum rack in Ableton which correspond with your MPC pads once you've set it up correctly.

...that's three clicks in logic, if your mpc is connected to your computer the right way...

but with jjos it's luxury to chop....also because of the fact that you don't have to look at it.....a clear loop and three "clicks" again....

midi timing works....but internal samples will always be tighter....

You can do this in Studio One as well, Plus Soooo Much More.

I've done this in Logic Pro 9 and it ended up being a headache (but that is user-fault more than anything). I now just use Beat Cleaver if I am going to chop on the computer... get my slices, export them and then I create a program using one of the several program makers out there.

I know this is not exactly a true answer for your question but, this is what I do now (if I chop on the computer in the first place). Figured it could be of some use to you.

It ain't a DAW but, f'reel, Beat Cleaver is pretty f*cking snazzy.

Hey Reeloy - I'm curious how you set this up. The once or twice I did this in LP9 was a f*cking disaster.

Sounds to me like this dude should just save up for a studio/ren or maybe even get the element and just use it for chopping as a plugin in his daw?

funny tho, i actually like working in a daw but chopping is the biggest thing i miss from the 2500 !
