How to? Set-up KP2 with MPC 3000.. Help!

Hey everyone, I decided to have some fun with my 3000 and have my Kaoss Pad 2 lying around that looks like it wants to be in use again.

I would like to know how to set up a KP2 as a MIDI device (or effects pad) on an MPC3000 so I may use the effects from the KP2 in separate tracks and/or sequences.

So far I've had a couple leads but didn't seem to get anywhere. I've read the manual requiring that I have this set up with the cords:

KP2 Line in -> MPC's Individual mix output (1,2)
KP2 Midi Out -> MPC's Midi In (A)

From here I didn't know how to adjust the MPC settings. Does it deal with the MMC? Or is it "Sending MIDI Time Code In Real Time?" I saw something about MIDI TIME CLOCK floating around as well.

I don't know the difference between these modes, I am fairly new to how MIDI works, please bear with me.

I have done about a couple days of research into this, and to no avail did I find an answer for this set-up. Most of the how-to's I've spotted online were for 1k-5k but seems to skip the 3k. Of the few articles regarding the 3k I noticed they've also had a separate mixer on top of the KP2 and MPC, but wouldn't that just add effects to the entire sound and not specific tracks/seq?

yeah, what you can do is set up outputs 1 and 2 (or any pair of the assignable outs) to the ins on the kp2... and you can maybe run the midi out from the kp2 to the first midi in on the mpc, and the first midi out on the mpc to the midi in on the kp2... I forget if there is something you need to click on the kp2 itself to set the midi channel and all that shit, but in the mpc set up a track for the external midi and try and record a sequence while moving your finger on the kaoss pad and I think it should replay the sweep you did. Other than that, I don't see what you could really do with the kp2 in that way.

I used to use one for the mpc60 because I would use the phono preamp for my turntable.. but I would record the samples first into the kp2, then apply filters or what ever, then when the sample sounded good I could record the result into the mpc... also it would allow me to make a really short piece of the same sample by recording it again and truncating it smaller... which meant I didn't have to save and reload it from a floppy disk. I also used to use the kp2 on the effects send/return for a bit of reverb and stuff like that.

When I record a sequence like this am I able to throw on the effects on top of a previously recorded sequence or must the effects take place WHILE I am recording the sequence?

This way sounds a bit more like what I was looking for, I just want to add effects to separate tracks I have so I can add a bit more color to whatever I'm doing without having to affect the rest of them. I will try this out, thank you for sharing this!

the problem with the midi way is, if you do an effect, record a finger sweep motion... then lets say you decide to try a different effect.... im not sure if it will not screw up what you just did and also different effects in the kp2 have different XY parameters. I didn't try it that way though so I don't know for sure how it actually would react in practice.

I think recording sounds with effects on the sounds might be better for filters and stuff... then if you want reverb later, you can reconnect the kp2 to a set of outputs and apply it before recording the song into the computer.
