MFC 42! worth the dough??

whats the deal w/ the mfc 42? who uses one?

there are better filters out there

For the price its great. I love mine. If I were rich I would get a mutator or the Sherman QMF.

I'm trying to sell an MFC on ebay right now . I think it's a really dope filter but I really haven't used it that much and I want to use the money to get a new piece of gear that I will use on a daily basis . . . . if you wanna peep some of the ish I did w/ it click on the link to our site below and check the 1st two songs in the music section , '99 cent hit' & 'Coupla' A$$holes' . Is your beats mainly sample based? What other gear do you have?

Yeah , I'm a sample-head . The only thing I use is my MPC2000 , a 06pro , two 1200's and a ton of vinyl . I used the MFC on those 2 songs but that's about it . For recording I use a G4 w/ Digital Performer and a 828mkII .

Damn, alright. So the MFC isn't really helpful in tweaking samples to lay down in your tracks? Like I was thinking about buying one so I could make sounding cleaner basslines, and just generally being able to get the part of a sample I wanted without all the other shit and making the samples sound nicer... The MFC isn't too good for that?

The MFC is dope for tweaking sounds (check those 2 tracks , I ran all the samples through the MFC) . And if you wanna use it for filtering particular sounds it's good but I don't know about masking . Bass lines would probably be the best to go w/ it but I'm already stuck in my ways so trying to incorporate it into every beat isn't my thing . I mostly used it for the phaser in switch-ups & intro's .

I think the MFC is really very good for that. Of course no filter can just lift the bass guitar or kick drum out of a busy sample, but the MFC is really good for turning any sound into a good and interesting bass sound, or for surgically removing certain frequencies in general. For that, it's great that it's stereo, plus it can be set up as a mono 48db/octave filter which is twice as steep as most filters out there.

It's all about the Tidal Quad, real analog with midi comming soon.
