Kontrol s-25 with mpc 1000

Hey, has anyone here got a kontrol s series? I've discovered that annoyingly it can't send midi directly from its midi out, it must use a midi adapter but still I can't get it to send midi to my mpc 1k, the strange thing is that I've had it working fine before but I can't remember what settings I used.
