Recording MPC 4k

I dont know why this hasnt occured to me until just now, but does anybody know how it changes the audio signal (if any) if you record into the line in on the soundcard, but using the headphone output on the MPC4k?

I've been doing it this way for quite a while now, with no problems, but I was wondering if it would help at all using the line outs, and converge them into a stereo plug that would fit the stereo line in on my soundcard. I've started using Sonar to mix my stuff, and since I only have a Soundblaster Audigy 2, I need all the help I can get for my signal running into the Soundcard.........

id just get a new sound card with a stereo input.

really if you dont mind the way you are working now.........and you are getting decent quality. Why spend a lot of $$$$ on an expensive sound card?

anyways, well, i know it does effect the sound as a stereo signal is better no matter what. Plus without a decent input, you cant sync your mpc to sonar, so that you can individually track out each mpc-track and mix on the computer......youll be stuck with just 1 stereo track, and unless you get it perfect on the mpc, you wont be able to make it bang as good!

but the reason i recomend a cheap sound card, is because nowadays they are really cheap. You dont have to go the protools route to get a good setup, and especially since you already use sonar, its just a natural progression to get a decent working sound card.

This one is 200 bones. You might be able to find it on ebay for cheaper.

I know it might be out of your price range, as you already got something that is working.

However, this one is nice because it has midi in and out....basically with that, you can sync your mpc to sonar....then record each track individually. Basically you will mute out all tracks except for 1, then hit record, the track will play, and you record it, do this for each track...then since its "synced" all the tracks will line up perfectly in sonar. So even though the interface only has 2 stereo inputs, you can still get a full multitracker out of it. Then you can do all your mixing in sonar, and get a better mix going.

You can always go cheaper...and get like a 100 dollar one and it will be just as nice quality, however it will lack midi ports.
