Korg Volca Low volume issue

Hi Mira , all you need is what you pictured. The simple ts to ts. One end must be 1/8th for the volca the other end can be 1/8th or 1/4 depending on what it goes into. I use an adapter on the other end.

Edit: Just out of interest, have you ever tried to sample your Volca into your MPC? If so, any good results?

No, I would guess that cable would not work.
The Volca output is a stereo signal, meant so that you can plug headphones in. Using a normal TS cable would be shorting the right-side signal to ground. So it could even damage the Volca. I haven't tried one with the Volca, but on the Monotron, which has the same stereo-output deal, it does not work.
As far as I know, you need a TRS to dual mono splitter cable (either sold as a stereo-to-dual-mono, or a TRS insert cable, same thing)

I'm really confused I have to say. I'm back at square one again. So all I want to do is sample some sounds from my Volca into my MPC and/or my 303.

Using a Stereo to dual Mono will have the same effect as a Stereo to dual RCA, or not? (tested on my 303 and the volume was quite low)

So I def need a stereo 1/8 for the Volca output, right?
Ok now if I want to plug it into my MPC I'd need a dual mono 1/4, correct?

Now I know it's not the SP forum but what would be best to plug it into the 303 then? RCA input or the front Mic input?

That's the correct cable for the Volca series. However, I'd suggest buying one where the 1/8" jack isn't so bulky, like the one you're showing here. This way there's not too much strain on the output jack, and less risk of damage. The cable I showed you before is nice and light, and it's much cheaper too.

As for the SP-303, you need a stereo RCA to 1/4" cable. You can also use an RCA to RCA cable and add 2 1/4" adaptors if you have them laying around. No sense using the Mic input for line driven devices.

I've sampled the Volca Beats into my MPC and it sounds great. It's definitely worth it to experiment and sample whatever you like from those machines.

Made a quick video of both cables

TRS - TS Left and TS right

TS to TS



Setup used:
Volca beats headphone out to
MPC 4000 analog input ( I recorded in stereo. If I recorded mono it would be centered and not panned hard left or right)
Out from MPC4000 headphone jack to Olympus LS-20M camera mic input

PS Going into a digital recorder it is centered when you record mono.

I suggested the 1/4" To RCA if you were sampling the SP-303 into the MPC (or vice versa). But now that I see you were referring to needing a cable to sample into the SP from the Volca, the 1/8" Stereo To RCA is what you need. I probably misread something earlier. As for the low output, I'm not sure why that issue is occurring in the SP-303 using the correct cable.

Hi there !

I have 2 volcas to connect (bass & drum)
I'm planning to try the following setup, using a sb-5 built by Radial Engineering which will be acting as a direct box. https://www.thomann.de/fr/radial_engineering_sb_5.htm

Volcas -> mono 1/8" to RCA -> dual RCA male to 1/8" female -> SB-5 -> 1/4" -> MPC

Hope this shit will work, I'll let you know
