Internal Zip Drive Problems...

I recently bought an internal IDE iomega zip drive but it wont work.
I've followed the tutorial on how to install it and tested out the drive in my G4 and it still doesnt work. The power supply is ok, its just that my mpc will not recognize the drive. I checked to make sure the drive was on master as well...Are there specific cables necessary for this operation, or am i one of the cases where it didnt quite work out?
Anyone who went through these problems please help me out.

If it's a 250MB drive, you should try upgrading to the 1.14c OS

Other than that, have you removed the floppy cable from it's connector?

Its a 100mb drive, i should have mentioned that...

I installed version 1.14c beta and it worked! for about five seconds...
It showed up as an ATAPI drive and i tried a disk and it read everything, i turned off the mpc to disconnect my old external scsi and when it was back on it didnt work...
I re-installed system 1.14c beta and now it works again!
but when i turn it off, gone...

i know the system is still 1.14c as i checked it afterward...
Is this a bug in the OS or could it be something else?

Try instaling 1.14c, get it working, leave it on, then install 1.14. Fingers crossed...

this is frustrating...
its gotta be the drive, maybe an older version thats not directly compatible with my mpc...i asked akai about it and they just told me to buy their zip kit...

i really dont want to be stuck with an external zip drive.
im really nervous about knocking the scsi connection out and blowing up my mpc...

any advice to what i should do?

I'm not sure if the internal SCSI works for all SCSI drives - you could try emailing mike at midicase.com for advice on this.

I got the same problem with my MPC, installed a ide zip100 drive, but it still said "no floppy found". So i tried to load up OS 1.14c. when I boot up the mpc with no disk it asks for a mpc system disk, when i put in a disk with the os on it i get the sequencer screen for about 1 sec while it still says "please wait" After that the screen flips to show me all kinds of memory information, so i don't have any way to load back the old OS.

does anybody have any ideas?
