MPC, Mo'Phatt, and PRGM changes

What up MPC fam,
A question about program changes. I have a mo'phatt connected to my 2kxl. When ever I chang the program on the main screen of the mpc, it changes the sound bank in the mo'phatt. My question is this. Can I set it up so that when I load a seq. from a zip disc, it will automatically change the mophatt to the correct sound banks? Thanks for any help

u gotta insert a program change and a bank change in the sequence so that it tells the mo phatt to change, I add 3 bars at the beginning, 2 so midi timing can lock in ok, and a 3rd so that I can add all my program/bank changes to a sequence at the beginning. WHen you load this program and hit play the module, sampler etc. whatever you have midi'd to it will adjust to the correct places.

You can send a midi dump to the mpc that will save how your instruments are set up. you have to have mo phatt midi out going into the mpc. if you hit the "master" key(on mo phatt) and then scroll to send midi sysex data it will then let you choose what to send. I normally scroll back to the beginning which gives you the "current multi setup". i will then use a blank sequence and hit record on the mpc and then hit enter on the mo phatt it, there should be a slight pause if the click is on. then i check in the step editor to make sure the mpc got it. i always us 1a as the midi. Thanks for the tip, but Im having problems with this. On the mpc I set the prgm to 1 then on the mophatt I select the sound I want. The problem is when I go to record a sequence the mophatt automatically changes back to the preset??? Ex. Mpc set to prgrm 1 Mophatt set to Midi 1 prc Hats1 when I start to record Mophatt changes to Midi 1 vox synvoice. I need help. Thanks

you are causing a program change, and i don't know how. I don't use the pgm on the MPC. It looks like that you are recording progaram 1 into the mpc and it is returning the mo phatt back to program 1 when you start the sequence. I wouldn't change that pgm on the mpc , try that.

To change the Banks and Patch selections works like this
Open the windows on patch selection,

Turn on Bank select
Set The MSB
Set the LSB

How do you know what the midi module MSB or LSB is?
Check your manual of the bank you want to control
The EMU mods are like this
Bank Selet ON
MSB 0
LSB 1 THROUGH 4 (change in between all 4 banks ABC@D...)
Exit out of the window and scroll through the sounds.
All EMU mod work the same

My Virus C works the same as The EMU
Banks Select ON
MSB 0
LSB 1 THROUGH 4 (ABCD)

My Roland works like This
Bank Select ON
MSB 80 through 85
LSB 1 through 5

I change expansions through the MSB
And Banks through the LSB

If your unit comes up with not installed its because your trying to
access a slot that has no expansion mod in it.
Like if you have a protuess and your trying to control but you pick
a expansion slot thats has no rom.

When you save your seq, it will call up all the right patchs next
time you load it. Works perfect and it really makes a diffrence.
Check out the manual of the unit you want to control it will give you
the correct MSB and LSB to work with.

WHAT UP, IT'S BEEN A WHILE SINCE I USED A DUMP SO I DON'T WANNA TELL YOU NOTING WRONG. hOWEVER I THINK IT'S SAFE TO ASSUME THE TIP I'M ABOUT TO GIVE YOU WILL COME IN HANDY. I MYSELF USE THE EMU SET UPS TO. TIP- EACH INDIVIDUAL TRACK SHOULD BE LABELED. EXAMPLE TRACK ONE 0130 ALL ONE, TRACK TWO PUT THE DRUM PGM NAME (PROVIDED THIS IS A DRUM TRACK) THIS IS VERY HELPFUL. THIS WAY SHOULD YOU CHOOSE TO EDIT SOMETHING YOU HAVE A ROAD MAP TO GO BY. WHEN YOU POP THAT MO' PHATT ON JUST PEEP OVER AT THE TRACK AND SWITCH TO THE TRACK ACCORDINGLY. IF YOU SAVE THE SEQUENCES UNDER SAVE ALL SONGS AND SEQUENCES IT WILL RECALL ALL YOUR PARAMATER SETTINGS. AS FOR USING THE PROGRAM CHANGES ON THE MPC WITH THE JOG WHEEL I WOULDN'T ADVISE IT UNLESS YOUR CHANGING GM PRESETS. WHY? YOU ONLY HAVE 128 PRESETS, MEANING YOU ONLY HAVE ACCESS TO ONE BANK AT A TIME. DO IT THE MANUAL WAY REACH OVER AND TWIST THAT KNOB ON THE MO PHATT I SWEAR ONCE YOU GET INTO IT YOU'LL LOVE BOTH THE SIMPLICITY AND VERSATILITY OF IT.

I use to do it that way, but once you understand how a program change works, it much better to control it using the MPC midi features. Plus you always should lable the track. When I load a seq on the mpc without the using midi programs changes I have to flip through all my mods to get them to the right change and patch, when I do it my way, it auto goes to the correct patch, plus if i change a seq in the middle, it had the correct patch as well. This is what the MPC is designed for. I say take advantage.
