Just giving thanks and praise for some of my (new) favorite free software out there!

AnalogX has a free program which will batch convert all your wav files so they're all the same note. This program is called AutoTune and it's a life saver!
You can assign all samples to scoot to C3, for example, or you can specify that they jump to the nearest C or A or whatever you tune from.
AutoTune will also optionally normalize all your samples, remove DC offsets, resample to the correct sample rate and bit depth.
I've got a ton of drum samples I grabbed on my ES-1, for instance, which are all at 16 bit/32KHz, and if I wanted to use them on the MPC my only options before were to either use the ES-1 as my sound module and build drum programs there (painstaking but not as horrible as it seems) or resample manually in Sound Forge or similar program. AutoTune will do all of this for me, quickly and nearly flawlessly.
I'd previously wanted to automatically tune samples to the same note and have it be a specific note, and this is the first serious free solution I've seen.
And don't forget my favorite free drum/synth tone synthesizer, DrumSyn. Easy envelope-based creation of any sort of electronic sound you can think of. Right now I'm downloading one of the other freesynths available from the same site, Stomper. We'll see how I like that.
