I agree with most of the catz in this post about diggin', looking, searching, and seeking your own sounds. I've found many and plenty of sound sources on the net than any local record shop. Anywhoo, here are two sites that can help you find those sounds you're looking for less than $30.

I 'aint herd the tracks you talk'n but whats wrong with trying to create your own hats and snares...

It shouldn't be to hard to find some Jazz Kit samples on the net... Try grabbing one and layering it with an electro hit...then run it through a Gate if it needs to be snapier!!!! adding a dose of EQ should transform it a bit....if you ain't happy with the sound try a bit of pitch shifting or light distortion.... I bet you will be able to emulate that DRE snare in no time... Try the above on Kicks ..... and use filters, gates, eq on Hats!!!

The Moral of the Story here is, there is no easy path to the Sound you Want!!! and copying someone elses sound is a good way to start getting an ear for what you are after but will lead to creative stagnation in no time....

I spent many many countless hours tweaking drum sounds, and it is an essential thing for any rythmn based track... The more effort you put in the more you will get out of it...

I couldn't agree more. You should work on diggin up a decent collection of samples yourself first. With that and some practice you could probably recreate any sound you want. It's a nice thought to ask people to give you 2 kicks and a snare, but you'll be up in here tomorrow asking for a hihat

Then your gonna have to sample. If not, your gonna buy 1000's of sample cd's and not find the sound you want. Believe it or not, a lot of these producers are not spending hundrend of thousands of dollars on equipment to tweak sounds, or buy sample cd's. A lot of them sample from records (even jermain dupree!) because it is cheap. My point is that you may pay a lot of money to find a sample cd with that perfect sound you want, and the producer that found it may have spent $1 on a used record and sampled it. To actually own a sampler and say that you don't sample it crazy. Why buy it in the first place?
