Fostex mixer

Ive been looking for a mixer that i could start recording emcees over my beats and whatnot. I was just wondering if a fostex 8 channel mixer with cd burner is what im looking for. Im not a fan of computers, nor do i have the money to invest in one. So the way i saw this fostex mixer was i could drop 6 hundo with cd burner get a good mic and i figured for my purposes id be set, but first id like to hear some other peoples opinions.

Sounds like it will work. 600 can buy you a computer these days you know. If you were a fan of computers that is. What about tools for mastering. I'm not familiar with the mixer you speak of. You will need something like that for vocal quality mixdowns and such.

Are you all talking about multi trackers or mixers ?

I've got a fostex vf16...which is the vf 160 w/o the CD burner...it's been discontinued, but you may still be able to find one if you seach...should be pretty cheap too...I got mine for $700, should be less than that now if cash is an issue...it's 16 channel mixer/recorder, it's got a decent sound, but it's not with out it's issues...

I use the vf16 also. I can't say I've had many problems with it except the backlight going out. I've out grown it though. I'm moving up to PT. Forest what kind of issues are you having?
