How Do you synchronize your MPC with CUBASE????

Hi im new to the board had my mpc 2000xl for a month

someone told me that if i wanted too run cubase with the MPC i could just synchronize the two together they said it was easy but forgot to tell me how and what i need to this (or i could have just forgot to ask anyhow) they said if you press play on either one both should start playing together, could anyone help me with this question this would help me alot with tracking.

If I understand your question correctly, you'll need midi cables in order to sync up Cubase and the MPC. To make Cubase the master device and the MPC the slave device, hook the midi cable to the midi out of your soundcard and into the midi in of your MPC (input 1 or 2). On the MPC, hit shift + 9, select your input, and change mode to midi clock. I'm not familiar with Cubase, but I'm sure you have to set it to send a midi signal (I use Sonar and I have to select options>project>midi out, then select transmit). I'm sure Cubase has a help section that explains how to hook up midi devices. If you want the MPC as master and Cubase as slave, hook the midi cable to the midi out of your MPC (A or B) and into the midi in of your soundcard. Go to your midi/sync screen on the MPC and select the output you put your midi cable in. As for Cubase, find the help topic that explains how to receive midi signals. I hope this info helps. OK let´s say I have just one midi port. Do I need a new soundcard to do that or is there any other solutionn. If not what would be a wise middle budget choice???

Only one midi port on your soundcard? Is it midi in or midi out? If it's midi in, set up the MPC as your master device. If it's midi out, set up Cubase as your master device. I have M-Audio's Audiophile 2496 soundcard and it has midi in and out ports, plus 4 in/outputs, and a digital connection for a DAT. I got it for $130 but it was well worth it. Helluva lot better than SoundBlaster. Search around for prices or similar soundcards. Peace...

It´s a midi in. Is there a step by step guide how to do that. I mean I know cubase quiet well but I dont know how to connect hardware...

Nope, just follow these simple steps. First, get a midi cable, hook it up to your soundcard, connect it to a midi out port on your MPC, hit shift + f9 (midi/sync button), set the sync out to A or B (whichever port you put the midi cable in), set mode to midi clock, and you're on your way. Now, as far as your settings in Cubase, you'll have to search the help topics within the program. Hope this helps...
