keyboard

this might not be the best place for this question, but im looking for other 2500 heads input on a good keyboard to buy to use in conjunction with the mpc.
looking for a good keyboard for hip hop style sounds and stuff.
i know alot of peeps might say a midi controler with modules and stuff, but im really looking for a stand alone keyboard.
any help or suggestions would be gratly appreciated.

What sort of budget do you have?

a 76 Key Yamaha Motif classic can be picked up for under £500 and will last you years.

Or something like the E-Mu PK6

Korg Triton, Yamaha Motif, or Roland Fantom are a few off the most used workstation keyboards.

thanks for the replies, tho it doesnt need to be a workstation as i will be doing all my arranging and sequencing on the mpc.
i will be budgeting round about the 500 pounds mark i think if that helps.

I've got the Module version of the PK6 and it's spot on, especially for the money.

I still think a used motif would be a good bet even though you wont be using the sequencer.

Failing that, any reason for you not wanting to go the module and midi keyboard route? It's a lot more flexible. What's the need for it to be standalone?

If you just want synth sounds an access Virus B or C would be spot on

If u are goin to go the Emu route go for the module. Also note those items are discontinued meaning u cant purchase them from the stores so u will have to hit ebay or some other auction/classified site.

I know u dont want a module but most of the emu modules offer more than the keyboard.

E.g. PK-6 and Protues2000 are the same. The Proteus 2000 offers 6 outputs along with spdif. The pk-6 only offers 4 outputs and no spdif.

But in the end its up to you.

yea i got the roland JX-305 groovesynth .. but idk how to use them both and save the keyboard sounds on the mpc 2500... any help??

Well dont forget the mpc2500 has direct recording so u can record the keyboard sounds directly into an sequence on the mpc2500 while the sequence plays. Check vid below just in case u dont know about this feature.

ok i have them reocrd in cables hooked up but am i suppost 2 have the midi cables disconnected or can i have them blugged in but wouldnt they interfear with the record in?.......

Having MIDI cables connected does not affect the AUDIO.

U can have them connected for MIDI sequencing or u can just disconnect them. If u are using Direct Record u dont really need the MIDI cables.(since u are using an keyboard with sounds if u had an module or was using Reason then u would need MIDI cables but only to control the module or reason.)
