Using ASR-10 with MPC2000xl (as a sequencer)

When i get mine this is going to be my main setup.

How would i be able to go about doing this?

2 midi cables in and out on both?

Substitute ASR for Motif in this...

Midi out to midi in on the motif and MPC. 2 cables should do it. When you want to program beats on the MPC, set the track to "drums" and set the midi channel to "off". When you want to sequence the motif, set the track to "midi", the program to "off" and set the midi channel to whatever channel the motif is. If you want to play both at the same time, set track to "midi", load up whatever program you want and set the midi channel to whatever channel you are using for your motif.

so wait. is it possible to send track info into the mpc's sequencer

for example. i make a snare track on the ASR could i transfer that info into the mpc via MIDI

ok, i just got my asr about a month ago and think i can help u.

im sure by now u got the midi out to midi and midi in to midi on the mpc and asr.

assuming ur dong the same thing that i am and using the sampler on the asr and sequencer on mpc this is what u have to do. when u got midi all hooked up make sure that when ur mpc is on that where it says S:device 1 or whatever. set it to s:midi:device 1. now each instrument on ur asr is going to correspond to the track on ur mpc. so make sure that instrument 1 is set to track 1 midi:device 1 on ur mpc. then instrument 2 is set to track 2 midi:device 2 and so on.... now the only thing u have to do is make sure u go into edit/system midi and scroll till u see "omni" on output option. turn it till it says multi and u are good to go. now say u bwant to send the snare track to the mpc and the snare sound is on instrument 2. just set the mpc to midi:device 2 and record it. im still learning but this is the procedure i take. hope it helps. peace
