how do I hook my 2000xl, keys and computer up using midi???

Hello,

I am posting because I am stumpped, I want to create music like I normally do using my mpc and the keyboard but what I want to be able to do is to have my computer as the master, is this possible?

Would I still be able to create music as I do now using the mp and the keyboard?

I was reading a post that was talking of this method but there were no answers or instructions of how to do this.......I would like to be able to make the track and then lay my vocals in the computer with the beat playing but not recording, this way I could make more adjustments to the music down the line.

Can someone guide me in the right direction

What program(s) are you using in you pc to lay the vox's with?

What sound card do you have in your PC?

What MPC do you have?

You are not giving up enough info on your setup there buddy, w'sup with that? Help us help you

magix studio generation 6 deluxe, I am using a mpc2000xl, and a roland xp10 keyboard

I have a 2496 card in the computer and it has 1gig of memory a 1.6cpu with two 20gig drives in it

Well, brickwall, I don't know Magix or the xp10 at all so I can't walk you through those menus.

its just like logic but it has a section where you can open up the audio that you send in to the program

I have the mpc and the keyboard like this:
mpc 1 out to keys in
keys out to mpc a in

what i was thinking was could I use the midi b to hook my computer in to the set up?

I also have adobe audition as well that I use sometimes to record vocals

Yes. Try it and make sure all the channels match up and the frame rate is same across all gear.

Frame rate? I have no idea what you are talking about, you got to learn me man

shift and 9 will take you into the midi screen menu of the mpc here you will see the frame rate..........match them up with the software you are using........in the magix 6 program, hit options and select synchronize, put it on mtc and make sure you do the same on the mpc and now you should be locked in.........as far as the xp10 it will follow the direction of the mpc so how ever you program it it will work fine
