Whattup heads. Would anyone have a suggestions or experience with connecting an MPC to a MAC via SCSI? It would be nice to access my Hard Drive dedicated for music instead of dealin with ZIP's. Main reason being that i use recycle, but hate having to transfer each file to a ZIP after im done slicing. It would be so much easier to have the convenience of being wired up with my comp.

Good lookin,

Man. It sounds like you're talking about hooking up you hard drive to both the MPC and the Mac at the same time. Don't go there. Be super careful with that. SCSI is no joke. It will blow your fuses out on either your computer or the MPC.

Here's my set up:

Mac G4 with internal zip drive

MPC3000 w/ external zip and external 1GB hard drive

(I keep putting off installing both internal zip and hard drive in the MPC, but that's another story)

You'll need the necessary hardware and I use two - 25 to 50 pin SCSI cables to connect the zip and hard drive to the MPC. Works beautifully too.

Good luck.

Blowin fuses like that?!? Damn, what a setback. Do you have both the Zip and the Harddrive connected to your MPC at the same time? does the 3000 have dual SCSI connections? Or do you have to connect and disconnect?

Do a search here or at the MPC3000/or MPC60 groups at Yahoo groups for more info on the SCSI drama and damages.

Anyway, the zip and hard drive are attached to the MPC at the same time.

Do not, repeat, do not disconnect a SCSI scable while the device is powered and running!!!!

I used 25 to 50 pin SCSI cables and it works fine. No probems. I also never disconnect the cables. never. The MPC has only one 5 pin SCSI connector, so does the Zip drive. The average external hard drive will have two 50 pin SCSI connectors. (most of the time, I don't even turn on the external hard drive.) Well, that's how I hooked up my lil SCSI network.

Good luck.
