Whattup folks. Anyone have any experience or knowledge about creating a SCSI chain from an MPC 2000xl to ZIP and MAC to the same ZIP? Any info is much appreciated.

There are alot of rumors and myths out there regarding the MPC's compatibility with external devices. It sounds like a consensus that an MPC is not to be connected to a MAC via SCSI. I still dont even know if this is true or just a myth. But primarily, I'd like to chain these 3 peripherals together so that i dont have to go back and forth 24/7.

Dukes;
Once upon a time, folks used the Akai S-series samplers in connection with Macs via SCSI. I remember folks even used SCSI switchers to connect multiple samplers at once. Those samplers had a different SCSI protocol. To my knowledge the MPC does not have such a facility.

Be very careful messing with SCSI. One mess up can be serious and can set you back in terms of time and money. You can do some research at the Akai website or at www.midicase.com or from this old website explaining Akais and SCSI- You can find that at www.synthzone.com and look at the Akai pages.

I understand you about the Zip disk dance, back and forth between the computer and the MPC. But, it works.

Peace.
