Planet Phat or Mo' Phat????????????

Which one is better?, and why?

mo phatt is more current and has better filters. Planet phatt has different sounds. I guess the mophatt is more contemporary but the planet phatt still have some good sounds.

What you might want to do is buy a proteus 2500 I think it can be upgraded to have all the sounds in both machines.

The Mo' Phatt is, hands down, the most useful module/expansion card for Emu as it relates to hip hop and current pop styles of music. Planet Phatt has some good. wholesome sounds as well, but if hip hop, r-n-b, and pop are your forte, then the Mo Phatt will get you started in the right direction. They both are must haves but the Mo Phatt would be my first choice. I am using a Proteus 2500 module and it is a monster sequencer due to its speed, timing and a host of other realtime control functions(filters, LFOs, etc.) that can be used even with an external sequencer. My setup consists of this machine and the MPC2KXL. If at all an option purchasing a P2500 and a few additional expansion roms would be ideal. Sounds from the Mo Phatt module can be added with the Pure Phatt expansion rom. This can be achieved for about 800-900 bucks if within budget...

So how do you connect the sound module with your MPC?

Actually, all that is required is that you connect the midi OUT of the mpc to the midi IN of the sound module. This should more than suffice for triggering the sounds and using the pads to play them. If you are using the Proteus, the audition function reveals the MSB and LSB numbers of each sound preset required for program changes on the MPC. Any more questions, give me a holla!

I have a proteus 2000 with the Mo phatt chip installed and it’s a good combo but Roland by far has the best original sounding sound modules. Get one !!!
