I'm trying not to get gear happy.
I was looking at a BBE Sonic Maximizer the other day and like most people I know that are into hiphop , everytime I visit a music store I think about getting new gear.
I know I cant get everything but perhaps if I list what I have maybe someone can give me a few nice ideas that I may not have thought of.
Keep in mind that I am not rich and cant budget thousands of dollars right now.
Here's what I have:

MPC 2000xl with zip , memory , SMTPE but no effects card or 8 outs.
Ensoniq ASR X ( the black one) no 8 outs.
Korg Triton. ( it's on loan really )
DBX Pro-Vocal digital vocal processer
dod rack e.q.
emu planet phatt
dual disc rack cd player
behringer compresser
alesis nano compresser
behringer patch bay
skb 12 space rack
akai s 1000
akai dps 12
Small Behringer mixing board.
AKG C-3000B mic with mic stand and popper stopper
PowerBook G-3 running Cubasis on OS 9 and a cd burner.
A P.C. with the same cubasis program and a seperate burner but it aint exactly a high powered machine.
Two DJ set-ups with one including technics 1200s and a few dj mixers.
Enough Records to keep Pete Rock busy for a LONG , LONG time.

Like I said , I was looking at BBE sonic maximizer and I have heard great things about them. I can get it fairly cheaply. Under $100. Some of my friends said I should get a better multitracking program like Logic but that shlts like $1000 or close to it and I have other expenses. Plus , then I'd need a soundcard because the one in the mac now is the factory one.
I know I need to replace it eventually so whiile you're giving advice , what soundcard is compatible with my mac and wont break the bank?
I didnt list my monitors because I really dont have "studio monitors" I'm using Altec Lansing ATP3 powereds right now though.
I would appreciate any advice. Thanks.

8 out expansion for the mpc + cheap usb soundcard ( with digital capabilities , mine is a shitty roland um 30 bought for 75 bucks ) to get digital transfer between MPC / MAC / DPS 12 . I did it and don't regret it ( especially for sound editing )
Of course that's my opinion but hope it can help you !

Pieuver gave you some good feedback.
The BBE is cool, but you seem likeyou already have some of what it can do for ya. Since your'e into older/used gear, check out some older Digidesign Mac gear. Audiomedia 3 card could set you straight. If you are still on Mac OS9, that's a sweet solution. An older version of Pro Tools and you're off.

Peace.
