Noisy soundcard ???

I've almost finished my very first song on the mpc and i've got a question abouta little noise which comes out of my sound card (a Soundblaster PCI 512....). Straight of the mpc, it sounds good but i have to record it into Cubase to add fx and so... (everything is analogue, no optical i/o). And when listening to the result from cubase i got a little noise something like a "breath" (don't know the right word), just like when setting the loudness of speakers to maximul level without playing any sound, u know what i mean ? i think it's not electrical... So what should i do? Buying a new sound card ?? thanxxx for the feed back !

Lower end Soundblasters aren't too hot - although other things can lead to poor performance, like placing the soundcard too near your graphics card, or not fixing it in place properly.

I suggest a better soundcard - but avoid Soundblasters, they are set to 48 kHz digital, so any 44.1kHz signals need to be sample-converted on the fly leading to poor audio performance.

Have a look at the Audiophile, it's about the best low price card. Make sure you completely uninstall all soundblaster drivers before installing your new card (in Device MAnager, as well as Add remove Programs), otherwise your system may become unstable.

I've got the TerraTec DMX fire 24 .... i love it . BTW its got the same IC(Intergrated Circuit) as some of the M-Audio cards ie; the Delta and the Audiophile.

It does 24/96 nicely ,it comes with a front module that loads in a emtpy CD Rom bay.
