Recycle 2.1 Question: Any reason heads out there?

Hey, whats up.

I posted this in the context of a thread about beat choppin' but I thought it might be better to give it its own topic.

Okay here's the story: I have recycle 2.0 and mpceditor. Ive been usin this combo for a year or so and am not to into it. Lately ive gone back to doing all sample editing onmy mpc.
But now I see recycle 2.1 is out. And I could upgrade for free, but that would mean I would have to register my copy of recycle, which would mean I couldnt sell it fir as much (I seen them go on e-bay fer around $75).

So my question is: are the extras that come with recycle 2.1 compatible with the mpc. What I mean is: can I make a standard midi file on that Dr. Rex program and then load that midi file with the wav files into my mpc?

Propellerhead seems to want me to go all software, which I dont want to do, but if I can use recycle 2.1 as sort of a "sketch pad" to get an idea going in the computer and then transfer it to the mpc for mor indepth sequencing and song creation, then it might be worth it.

Any body got some knowledge they care to drop? Thanks.

Nothing to new with 2.1 I have both - you get a Reason Adapted program and you can use Recycle with Mac OSX (I have a MAC)

Recycle is the bomb with a MPC - just export your slices out of recycle into a folder (as waves) with your midi file (which recycle exports with your slices, you just have to check the little box in the lower left corner) and load it up into your MPC - it's pretty simple or maybe I'm not understanding what your saying -

Good lookin. Im using an old school 2000, so transfering files is a b!tch...

One question though: say you use the dr. rex to manipulate your recycled samples (I think that comes with 2.1). Does this make a new midi file that
you can export to the mpc?

yo download wav2snd and you can convert waves to the mpcs format. I have it on Ruggedbeats.com Also get Auto tune and throw slices to get them in tune with ofter samples that are there. You can get wav2snd at Midicase

If you are asking whether ReCycle 2.1 creates .pgm files, the answer is no. The only Akai program format that ReCycle 2.1 appears to do is .akp (it's easy enough to create a new program though, and if you're using a PC Midicase's MPC Editor will convert the .akp to .pgm)...the WAV slices don't need any conversion though and the midi files work great.

Go to the file menu in reason and export rex as midi - but that's kind of doing double the work - you might like to render a loop and bounce that to an audio loop out of reason then load that up into you MPC -

Can Wav2snd do the opposite? Take .snd files and convert to .wav?

And I assume you can still export rex as midi in recycle 2.1? (I dont have reason).

when you say double the work, it makes me wonder... Am I going about this the wrong way?
How do you all use recycle? Do you just export loops or the cut up sounds + midi files?

A little offtopic but let me get this straight:

I'm working on a mpc1000, and when i make my sliced project in recycle a program for the mpc2000xl, it's compatible on my mpc1000?
I'd say duh. But is it?

You coud do that, but loading reason just to play a few chops is not the easiest way. i woudl get a software sampler that loads SF2 files, and a freeware host that loads this sampler. It will run faster with lower latency and you can export sf2 directly with Recycle.
I'm on a pc, but i use recycle with exs24 all the time.

You can do all this with reason too, but if you don't have it yet i wouldn't buy it just for dr. rex.

Thanks everyone for answering my questions. I have just one more (so bear with me, please):

If i download and install recycle 2.1, does that mean I loose 2.0? The reason I ask is cause I own a S1000, and with recycle 2.0 I can send the s1000 samples over midi from the computer to the s1000.
I dont do this, as of yet, but I'm not sure I want to give up this option as Recycle 2.1 supports only the Z series hardware samplers. Any ideas? Thanks.

Exactly - export the slices as Waves and a Midi file - load up into you MPC and hit play - I only use sampled drums never use real drums off disks so Recycle is a god send for me -
