Newbie Shortwave radio question

Can someone tell me how, if I bought a shortwave radio, it would connect to the mpc1k and how I would record samples off of it? Right now I only have the mpc1k and a laptop. I'm thinking about adding a shortwave radio to sample from, and a denon s5000 cd player to scratch and sample from, too. Thanks.[/i]

Make sure the shortwave radio you purchase has some sort of audio outputs (1/8", 1/4", RCA, etc.). Then buy the appropiate cables from a fine establishment like Radioshack making sure that one end is 1/4" connector in order to fit into the MPC1000's inputs. Then sample away.

I would sample into the laptop instead. That way you can record more and then select.

Thanks, guys. I understand how to record into the mpc. But, I'm not certain how to record into the laptop. Do I need some sort of software, and what cables in what outlets? Do you know if windows xp or the sony vaio have a program that does this?

Thanks. The link provides that Soliton is good if you don't have Screenblast Sound Forge. I got that, and use it for chopping mp3's. Would SSF work?
