I haven't done this yet, but I have been thinking about it.
what you want to do is connect your computer's midi out to mpc's midi in and mpc out to computer's midi in. make sure your sequencer is outputting either midi clock or midi time code. Then you have to set your MPC to slave to the incomming midi clock. I have a 60, so it might be different on a 2000 or xl. on the 60 each sequence has a section to the left of the tempo that says (seq) or (mas) which is what is setting the tempo, either the sequence, or the master. the master you set with the midi/sync screen, where you switch the sequence to master, say what format and what input it comes in from.
then you go into sonar, make sure it's spittin midi clock or time code out of the midi out, same frame rate for MTC, etc.
when you press start on your computer, the mpc should follow along. Midi time code will lock the song position pointer in the mp to the computer, Midi clock will just clock it from where it is. either should be accurate enough for your needs. to get the mpc's midi into the seq, either just select a midi track and play/record, or export a midi file from the mpc and load it to the computer.
