Im want to lay down a few vocals what software and mic setups would you recomend? :roll:

im considering a RODE NT1A with adobe audition

go for it, just make sure you got some type of preamp either in your soundcard or as an outboard piece to power that mic up. if worse comes to worse you could just get a 48v phantom power box, but you're better off with a pre.

A good mic pre and microphone should be your first concern, any software will get the job done.

Be prepared to pay at least 400.00 to 500.00 for a halfway decent mic pre.

the phantom on a mixer aint good enough? i got something called invisible mic preamps on mine. just wondering.

depends on the mixer. If it's a Behringer the answer is probably not. I use two Bellari RP503 preamps. They cost $199 a piece and sound pretty good IMO. Definitely the best in the $100 to $400 price range.

my partner uses that plugged straight into his Digi002 and the vocals they drop at his studio sound top notch. no preamps, nothing.

aww sh!t, i knew that, i was just testing yall.....lol.



by the way they must be way better than the ones in the digi001, cause vocals dropped here sound like sh!t. so if you havent invested yet and are thinking about PT, get a digi002, i wish i did.

Yeah that nt1a is TIGHT work. I use it for all my recordings. But, from there its the pre-amp like everyone's saying

You also need Phantom power

I got this ghetto condens mic, this was only 15 bucks lol.
