Questions About the s950

I'm trying to add the s950 to my setup to go along with my MPC1000. I have a few questions though:
-is the 950 pretty much just an mpc without pads?
-do I sequence/make programs/save/load and all that good stuff through the 950 or 1000?
-will I still get the grittyness of the 950 with the 1000 rather than an older model?
-do you run the 950 and 1000 together through midi?
-is the whole connection process confusing (I'm not good with midi at all)?

if someone could explain the general workings/functions/purpose of the s950 I would greatly appreciate it.

How about "any nukai mpc has very little grit"

The s950 is a rack sampler, it has up to 8 note polyphony, 8 assignable outs and an adjustable sampling rate (for extra grit), a really smooth sounding filter and a dirty assed timestretch. You can create programs on it which you then sequence from your mpc. Which mpc you use doesn't matter at all, it won't effect the sound
