Midi controller Usage

I have a roland A-33 midi controller.Its main function for me seems to be just playing the sounds from my planett phay and jv 1080..Im suppose to be able to control both modules call up patches and do so much more..Does anyone here own this midi controller. Or do you guys even use any midi controller for its purpose other then playing sounds..Thanks

It took a while for me to understand how it should interact with all my equipment (reading a string of sysex aint fun - but it's good knowledge). You need to provide more info on how you are set up and what yo uare trying to do. Suggest reading manuals on your a33 and synths to shed a little bit of light (sorry if you've already done this) Midi can be confusing.

I have this keyboard controller and i just really want to be able to control my modules and call up sounds from here..Everytime i load a song i have to recall all these patches from my different modules and its a pain in the ass. Dont know if this will help me store the patches or quickly recall them.

I think the only way to do what you wanna do is to save the patch selection as part of the sequence. Don't know what sequencer you are using, but lets say yo uuse a soft seq (should be same for all - its only midi info you are messing with):

Leave two bars at the beg. of your sequence, and in them bars change to your selected patch for each midi channel/module/whatever. Then each time you play your sequence, the correct patches should call up automatically.

If I'm barking up the wrong tree, someone with a a33 may pop by - or try FAQ/Forum for your product...

Of course im using the mpc200

And i tried all of what your saying years ago, it just never seems to work consistently. My sequences get off set and the timing just messes up completely.. FOr now i just write th epatches in the track screen on the mpc and keep a hard copy on paper.. I just feel as if i have a great controller that i just use to play notes on. I know it should be doing more.. This particular controller doesnt have a screen as well so its kinda hard to know what ur doing
