Best Turntable, Cartridge, and Mixer

stanton and sumiko make some of the best cartridges.

Go with the Ortofon, Stanton or Shure.

For recording, use a 1/4" stereo (balanced) headphone jack plug to two 1/4" mono (unbalanced) jack plugs for the MPC.

i noticed that i could hear music from the turntable even when it wasn't hooked up to the amp and speakers...anyone know why that is??

i heard da ortofon's wear out vinyls faster than other records. then i heard shure's r hella good. which shure's r best to use for sampling?

i've got an ortofon trackmaster for back qing :

i don't backspin when i sample; i go for hi fi single pass and edit digitally

i don't rip up my vinyl; i only back spin on junk records i buy for that reason. i LUV my record collection too much.

this is heard on most needles becuase it is exactly what a needle is supposed to do..allow you to hear music. Think of the old turntables (what are they called phnograph machines?) they just have that big ass tube coming out like a ghetto speaker. bottom line is almost all needles do that so its normal its the barest form of sound the cartridge makes.

my bad getting back to the main subject your gemini 2000 is fine ( i think thats what i have) and just get a decent mixer, maybe a numark, with alot of eq knobs and basicall any cartrige. i have a stanton cartrige now that is for club/scratch use and it gives me great sound and i can mess with scratchin and if i accidentally screw with the needle then its still fine. look for a cartrige for under 100 bills for mixed use and youll be all set.
