Looking for a hardware multi-track

Hey,MPC ADDICTS i'm about to buy a mullti-track console with HD and i have in mind these 3 models: roland vs2400, korg d1600mk2, yamaha aw-16 g-cd. I can spent about 2000 bucks,so i'd like to hear any opinions based on your knowledge and experience.I'm gonna work mostly hip-hop tracks on it,but i want high quality results as my posse will release a lot of stuff.Come correct with your comments,peace and thanks!

well the engineer/owner at the studio i go to uses that 24 track roland. Its hot! I think that if you know what your doing, you can make your recordings sound great with that one. (check my soundclick, the songs i rap on were recorded on it). I personally have a roland vs890(8track) and all I can really say is from my experience, roland makes a great product.

check out the VS2000 with the VGA output and plug ins. VS planet just opened up a forum catergory for this one. I am waiting to see the reviews.

Yo D, I saw that Roland 8-track that you have at a Pawnshop. It was there for about $500. Is that a good price? Well, I'm pretty sure it's the same one. It's a VS something by roland and it's a digital multitracker, and 8 tracks were about right.

Good looking Louie lou.I actually want a multi-track that will contain (standard or optional) a cd recorder.It will help me much for the back-up stuff.

yo lou, id say 500 is a good price (if the things in good shape) i bought mine used from daddys junky music for 500 after tax and warranty. Thats after i talked dude down like 250 bucks!!!!!! I have the 890 (24-bit sound), the 880 looks exactly the same but it has 16-bit sound. also the 890 has a "mastering studio" but i dont think all the 880s do. hope this helps.



p.s. by the way, I still have a lot to learn with this 8 track, im a little overwhelmed. I mean I can make a song on it, but im not setting the tempo and lining things up like that, I cant copy and paste or anything. So if anyones at my lab, they gotta spit that stuff right! It comes out great though! Maybe I'll post a song Ive recorded at home.

oh yeah, roland makes a cd burner that hooks right up to thier units. I dont have it, but my teac home cd burner (non pc) works fine.

i have a friend that makes awesome quality stuff on the old roland vs1600 so that new one has to be good.

my partner has the yamaha you're talking about. he's only had it about a year & is making pretty good sounding stuff on it. seems easier to use than rolands too but that could just be me being biased.

Hey D, I have got software for that right there.......what it will allow you to do is to be able to see everything on your computer screen and you can make all the edits on the screen........although it wont be in your computer you'll be able to see it all via a standard midi connection.......its called Emagic Logic Vs.......I used it with the Vs880 and the Vs1680 it makes thins a lot easier..............I was able to get the Vs880 for $300.00 and I gripped the Vs1680 for $550.00.........I sold them both but they are good machines............

So, you hook up the VS thru a midi connection to your computer (when using the software)? I guess the VS model you're talking about doesn't have a VGA output, right?

Like reverb, delay, etc... And possibly compression?
