New apple imacs are out.. trackpad?

the new imac upgrade happened 2day.. i nearly brought a new imac a few weeks ago but held out (cheers COZ) glad i did..

sum of the new ish:

Quad core standard in all specs
3 x faster graphics
Thunderbolt
hd facetime
dual external display support

and u can opt for the Trackpad instead of the mouse for free..

im waitin for them 2 arrive at my local apple store, they said hopefully 2moro n then gonna pick one up (cheapest version). This will b my first mac well lookin 4ward 2 it.. been waiting ages.

would u get the trackpad or the magic mouse ?? (i havent got an apple mouse already n wnt b able 2 afford one for a while now)

You can do that and I probably would, but they will charge you restocking fee, or should at least honor the difference

I have last years 27" iMac. It's great, but I feel ripped off ... yet again by Apple.

I'm in the processes of building a computer with an i7 980 processor and an ati Radeon Hd 6990 with 3 27" displays. I am sick of mac. I've been a fan boy for years, but for the price of their top of the range machine you can build a computer to walk all over it.

Only thing Apple have is Logic. I am getting comfortable with Abelton though.

if you can get osx working on that powerhouse pc you're good as golden...if it wasnt for the osx I wouldnt even mess with macs...although I do think apple notebooks are top notch quality in comparison to pc laptops.

Yeah I do agree Apples laptops are by far the best. As for OSX on the PC, I think it's possible I've heard of something called Hackintosh. I'll have to look deeper into that.

yea I have yet to figure that out myself, I've built I7 920 back in 09 beefed up...but the amount of tinkering with files and other shit to get osx installed on it back then turned me off completely...seemed like it was much easier to go out and buy a mackintosh lol...im sure things have changed by now and this is something I should look into myself...

just got one a few weeks ago...LOVE IT!!

I hear that logic actually uses to video ram and GPU for additional processing support.... I am curious to know if that would work well on an emulated OSX install.

running audio software/hardware in hackintosh is a ****....I honestly think some PC dude scripted Hackintosh just so he could say "look what I did", and make Apple HAVE to write Boot Camp into OSX. If you want Logic, run a Mac. If you want iLife and iWork on your pc, **** with Hackintosh.



LMAO....This is the 3rd iMac update in 12 months, and I thought got bent over when they upgraded to the i5's...**** apple and their sales tactics.

I'm personally getting the Trackpad for my MBP when I've got the cash. I made the mistake of buying a cheap bluetooth mouse, but it was awful so I sent it back.

Simple lesson there for me... don't buy a £15 accessory for a 2 grand machine.

I've also heard the Magic Mouse rapes batteries for fun, so that may be another consideration, but go and check them both out if you can.

I think you have a 14 day 'no questions' return window. If they know you want to upgrade to the current gen they may even just give you a direct swap.

Mine gets through a pair about once a month!
I used to just put the mac to sleep instead of turn it off, but where the mouse stays active meant batteries only lasted a few weeks.

Get some rechargeable ones and problem solved.

Normal mice (or mouse ) feel too oldschool and weird nowadays, the magic mouse is worth the £50 in my opinion. Never used a trackpad though.
