DJ Mixer hisssss

Set up my turntables for the first time since I moved... but now theres an annoying hiss.
I unplugged the turntables, so its just the mixer connected to the speakers and theres still an annoying hiss

The hiss goes up and down with the master volume of the mixer.
Connected the mpc to see how loud the hiss is for recording and and its far too loud to sample with.

Any ideas what this could be?

try to change LR cables from mixer to speakers with a new pair

I should have said but it can be heard with two different cables.

When the mixer is connected straight to the amplifier with phonos the noise is heard.

When the mixer is connected to the mpc using 1/4" jacks, then 1/4" jacks to the amplifier the noise is still heard.

are your turntables grounded?

Yeah they're grounded, but the noise is still there when they're completed disconnected from the mixer.
The noise is definitely coming from the mixer

try unplugging everything else in the room

plug the mixer into a different outlet.

if its the mixer, u may be screwed.

Tried plugging the mixer into a different outlet and it didn't work.

Going to try unplugging everything else in the room.

what kind of mixer? and i'm assuming it didn't previously have any hiss?? or is it a newly acquired mixer??

if it's a behringer brand mixer, just throw it out and chalk it up as a learning experience... i think everyone's already been warned about their products...

I bought it new about a year ago and theres never been a hiss.
I moved house 2 months ago and not used it since. Plugged it in today and immediately heard it.


Both channels have an L and PH inputs, both are phono's.
You can choose on the top of the mixer to use the L or PH on each channel.

On channel 1 if you select it use the PH input then there is another really loud hiss that goes up and down with the channels gain.
This is still without the turntables or anything connected to it and only happens on channel 1 not channel 2.

I've never used the mic input it always stayed muted, but I unmuted it and that has a loud hiss too even though nothings plugged in. Is that normal for that?

word... i have the same exact DJ mixer... can't complain, the SA3 is great for the price & i haven't had any issues with it... i was gonna say to mute the mic input, but it looks like you already covered that... and i'm assuming the MIC's volume is all the way turned down as well... it may be something like the electric outlets in your new place aren't all properly grounded... i'll mess around with my mixer a bit later tonight after dinner and see if there's anything i can do to make it "hissy" and let you know...

^yeah that could be it, or even a magnetic field... bring the mixer to a friend's place and see if it does that over there.

disconnect the headshell from your turntable and then reattach it. I bet it's a bad connection to the tone arm.

Yeah the mic volume is down.
If its the electrical outlets are grounded do you recon this is this easy to fix? I'm only renting a room there temporary for about another month...

Okay thanks dude, When I get home this evening I'll try setting it up in a different room to see if that makes a difference if the outlets are on another circuit, then I'll try somewhere else.
