Good keyboard for bass

what is a good keyboard I can get for bass for under $300?

A stolen Minimoog.

I used to hate when people responded like this (see below) to a question like that (above).


save $200 more by April and get the MiniBRUTE or MiniTaur... otherwise I've owned a microkorg... those are surprisingly deep for bass

I've seen Roland SH-201 on craigslist and ebay for a $300 - $400

I was thinking microkorg at first there are some people on craigslist selling them for under $300 here but then again I heard they are not that good for bass...is the minibrite/minitaur suppose to be better than the microkorg or something?

Well they are brand new and have yet to hit the streets until April or something but they are real pure analog (which is what microkorg and Sh 201 emulate). from the demos and just knowing the rep of Moog (minitaur) you wont find anything more authentic and bass heavy.

For the prices $450 (arturia minibrute) or $599 (Moog minitaur)... there aint nothing touching these especially not for bass. but thats just my opinion (pardon my obvious gear lust... and dont let me spend your money. do more research on these do tho both in the forum and on google, youtube, manufacturers sites.)

Thank you for your reply again I will do more research and that minibrute and minitaur both look and sound great...

maybe have a look the yamaha digital fm range of synths. you should be able to get a tx81z for around $50. the fingered portamento setting gives basses a great feel.

it takes some getting used to in programming but the basses can be so perfect and unique.

personally, im not feeling the sound of the minitaur or the brute, really.

an sh101 is another classic.

check for these used:

-korg ms2000 [like the microkorg with more knobs for tweaking]
-akai ax60 [the poor man's roland juno 106]
-novation bass station [the name says it all]
-dave smith mopho [if you don't need the keys, you can get the desktop version for under $300 on ebay]
-korg micro-x [this is like a mini version of the korg triton... it's a rompler instead of a synth, but it has all kinds of high quality bass sounds which you can also tweak a bit]

i'll probably think of more later...

Ohhh shit yeah how could I have forgot the mopho. That's a killer joint surprisingly deep and cheap too

for under $300 you def want to be looking at the various Novation rack options - I have a bassStation keyboard version, its very plasticy and prob doesn't have all the options of one of the better Novation rack modules.

Or a Mo Pho as people have previously mentioned.

I plan on checking the Alesis nano bass - not that easy to edit patches, but has a interesting range of patches, and its cheap.

at the mo I've got a Roland Sh-2, BassStation KB, Blofeld, MicroKorg XL and random rack stuff.
