mpc 1000 vs. mpc 2000xl?????

the mpc 1000 vs. mpc 2000xl...pound for pound and feature for feature...which one is better and why? i'm leaning towards letting go of my 2000xl and getting a 1000.

my reasons:

1. 1000 is expandable to 128megs vs the 2000's 32megs
2. you can save on CF cards (these can be up to 2 gigs?!?!?!)
3. Mac's and PC's read the 1000 as another computer via the usb....easy to back up files.
4. effects
5. small and portable

is it me? am i crazy? can anyone talk me out of this?

if you like usin software more then hardware maybe the 1000

but i dont know much feature for feature so i couldnt really help you more then that.

stability wise the 2kXL is the winner. Read the 1000 forum and check how many people have sample drop out issues and sure, in theory 2Gig cards work, but finding a card that works with it is a hassle for most people as it won't read some cards.

Also, no timestretch or Autochromatic assign on the 1000.

no velocity editing per track on the main screen.

Just get a rack sampler with more memory if that's what you are after, the 1000 will most likely disappoint.

I've NEVER had a problem with the 1000
but I've also know ppl to have problems with there XL's
plus its a NEW machine , there BETTER be OS updates

I've also never heard anyone having problems with flash cards
ppl are probably buying the WRONG one

its like ppl buying a USB or parallel zip drive and saying it doesn't work with the XL
if you buy the wrong one then its YOUR OWN FAULT

I got a basic 256 SANDISK card and it works EVERYTIME

another thing
don't go by everything that the ppl say in the 1000 forum
that forum has a lot of NEWBIES in it
now there is NOTHING wrong with that
but alot of the problems ppl are haiving are user problems and not hardware

Dogs, a 2gig flash card is way more money than it's worth.
F flashcards, that ish is silly.
1000 has alot of good features tho...

I say the 2000xl ALL THE WAY!! More dependable, and user friendly in my book.

I would buy a used 2k xl before i buy a new 1k just because to me alot of people are getting the 1k because its the newest mpc in the family and the cheapest and just because of the name "MPC". At the same time i have seen so many people after a few months already to sale these things.....why! I think alot of people was just being cheap at the same time just wanted to say "Yea i got mpc". For this reason i would of got a used 2k xl cause if you didnt like it you pretty much could put it back on ebay and pretty much get close to what you paid for if not 100 percent or more. Well those who got the 1k have to suck there pride up and take a lost. The funny thing is that most of the people who sale there 1k reason for putting it up for sale is " I want to get a 2kxl now", go figer!

what's with all the MPC 1000 bashing??

this isn't to say which one is WORSE its to see which one is better

they both have alot of similariities, but also some differences
the 1000 I wouldn't recomend as a stand alone machine
but it can be just as powerful if not MORE powerful than a 2kxl if used properly
all you need is a FREE wave editor that you can find on the net
Goldwave plus MPC 1000 >>>>> Mpc2kXL

the two models were never supposed to compete with each other so why are ppl making it out that way??

also I think alot of the ppl that buy MPC 1000's are beginners , (to production) whereas the avg buyer of a 2000XL usually has more experience and probably been around other ppl that have used or own MPC's

If you plan on useing the MPC as your main midi production source go 2000xl!

If you just need a MPC for this and that go 1000!

I like 'em both, owned both, written on both but...
