I'm thinking about getting a sound module and was a little puzzled, what do you think? Can you suggests any more alternatives to the 3 main ones?

-Triton
-Motif
-Fantom
-Others??

Why are they good/bad and how do u use them? Anything that pisses you off about them?

Thanks

I voted Motif, simply because, I have one...The rack version...simple to use, if you already are familiar with a machine as such...Probably a pain in the azz if you're just beginning...But I love what it does for me and wished that I had got the KB version instead, but either way I love it, the only downside in my view is that you can only use on arp at a time....but other than that, its a champ...

Probably not gettin a lot of response cuz this topic has been beat to death already, if you were to do a search of the big three using the search function for the forums you'd get all the opinions you're looking for.

I have the motif rack and the fantom XR rack

Motif has better natural sounds, (piano, strings etc.). It has a warmer organic feel.

Fantom rack has bettery synths, also the fantom has some more expanabitity and a dope sampler & filter

They complement each other well

The new Proteus 2500 is basically 4-unit version of the 128-voice Proteus 2000 rack module with much greater real-time controls and some other new tricks! The Proteus 2500 has got over 30 real-time, programmable knobs and buttons. It features the exact same great Proteus 32 MB sound set of ROM samples, and can be expanded up to 128 MB with additional sound cards from E-mu's family of genre based sound modules, keyboards, and desktop groove machines. The sounds it ships with is called the "Composer" soundset, offering sounds that cover the whole spectrum of synthesizer type sounds, from real instruments to bizarre sounds and effects.

The Proteus 2500 features a built-in 16-track MIDI sequencer, with 16 MIDI channels per track! It offers both linear and pattern based recording, real or step time, analog grid/drum machine style programming and more. Unlike the Proteus 2000, the 2500 has 24-bit DAC outputs instead of 16-bit, for enhanced sound quality. The MIDI processors have also been redesigned and are three times more efficient now than on the Proteus 2000! The 2500 has six audio outputs, S/PDIF digital output and a USB port. This is the most powerful Proteus ever, and will likely be E-mu's flagship synthesizer module for quite some time!

the 2500 is cool but it's basicaly just a 2000 with more hands on contol and a almost useless 16 track sequncer

By boywithpez007 Fri May 06, 2005 2:14 am
the sequencer in the 2500 isnt that bad, its the same as the XL-7 command station which I used for aaages.. although we are speaking on an MPC forum and it has absolutly nothing on that.
It was a good learning tool, good intro to sequencing.

relax homie...........................

I had one for a mintue................................................

true it has more knobs........................................

for quicker control of the parmams.....................................

but the 2000 can be tweaked the same way..............................

with a couple of button pushes.....................................

I said the sequencer was "almost useless"...................................

p2000 goes for around 200-300, p2500 goes for around 500, 200 for a sequencer you wont use and knobs that dont add anything but convenience ...............................................
