recording in the field

Does anyone carry around recording gear for recording random sounds/buskers/drunks?

I really want something that fits in my pocket and records wavs of a usable quality.

Any recommendations?

I use a dat player sometimes.

sony hi-md recorder and small mic, works well...

can record uncompressed 16bit/44.1kHz.

Can load your recording onto computer via usb.
(must use the sony software for that, which is a bit of a headache but works.)

i'm gonna have to grab one of those too.. records to compact flash. compliments my mpc nicely.

yeah that r09 thing is set to be the best solution if there are no big flaws....

it's kinda nice to have my stack of minidiscs piled up as backup and as a record of what i recorded..

but not _that_ nice, id rather have 24bit recording and no moving parts

What's this got to do with the MPC1000? Let's at least try to stay on topic...

well an MPC isnt much good without samples is it?

Yeah, exactly - MPC:s in general. That's why there's a "Production skills" section of the forum, to keep the 1000 (and other) forums free of off-topic stuff.
