im lookin for somethin just like that, just like 2 or 3 spaces to sit right in front of me on my desk. they dont even gotta have screw holes, just as long as its the right size i guess.

Here is my setup, there you can see my main setup: the MPC1000 (with the samurai mod I made), the soundcraft compact mixer, the micron keyboard (I use it mainly as a matser keyb, barely use the sounds much but they come handy sometimes), my old and trusty akai s20, the denon cd player, the vestax turntable and my TASCAM CD mastering unit (on the far right). Not visible in the picture: Genelec 8030 monitors, Akai s3000xl (racked under the vestax) and my old and trusted RM1x (up on a shelf).



In this one you can see a close-up of my 'samurai' mod on the MPC1000bk.



Here is a front view with the micron, mixer and some of my vinyl.



And here is my cheapo FX section. The Bass Exciter is quite punchy. The nanoverb, well, it's a nanoverb



And last, a side view of the studio wher you can see some more vinyl.

I just got me a micron at the weekend, loving it so far. What do you use it for when you do? Basses? Pads?

About the micron, i have found a few patches I like. Mostly in the COMP LEAD and KEYS categories. I particularly like all organ sounds, the EP is nice, the flute too. There are also those sounds that don't resemble anything (see COMP). The bass part is not to my taste at all (except for the Trisine one). I thought I could have fun editing my own patches, but the inteface is really terrible, so I gave up completely. As I said I use it mainly as a master keyboard, and as a MIDI generation tool. Indeed, the micron preset phrases are quite handy to generate arpeggios, they are fully midi so you can check them out in quick sequences and record them to the MPC in midi for further editing. It beats playing arpeggios myself with my limited finger skillz...
The reason why I got myself a micron is mostly size-wise... I needed a controller keyboard with full keys but with limited space; I was reluctant buying a master kb without sounds, so i looked up the MicroX, the Micron and other such entry level kb and the Micron won. However, the patches are definitley not to my taste generally speaking.

there are some good software patch editors for the micron... ones that also allow you to use the micron as a VST instrument in real time as well... are you mac or pc?

I don't see a computer in that setup...... I used micronizer on the mac myself.

I have the s20 since 1998, I don't sample with it anymore, actually a few of the control buttons are even dead. But I have 10 years worth of diskettes with samples that I just load in the unit and control it with the MPC. It still has a good sound.

I don't use a computer in the studio, but I have both mac and pc. And I would be interested in downloading patches for the micron, or creating them with a computer, but I didn't know there were software for hat. I will look up the micronizer thing. Thanks.
