I don't see why he wouldn't use both...S-900/950 for drums and the S-6000 for synth sound, what a lot of people don't get is the S series are really basicaly like a synth. The MPC as a sequencer and rack units as sound modules

that's correct.

the top rack unit is the S950, used it for drums. The bottom unit is the S6000, i used it for everything else. Back then before I got my 3k, I was sequencing the S950 and S6000 with Cubase, but my computer crapped out on me plus I always wanted a 3k, so I got one.

That picture was taken with a cell phone camera so the quality is bad. This setup was a long time ago. Now i only use Reason and Live on my laptop because I'm currently oversea.

ok, thanks everyone...ill have to look into these some more, I'm running an mpc1000(basically alone), and I love the workflow, but it could definately use some help.

the program should see the axiom when plugged in a pc. You know what? Go to the m-audio website and download the latest of the latest in terms of drivers etc... and enigma or what ever that is called. it should work fine, although I never tried it with a piece of hardware.

What DAW are you using it with?

I haven't even tried hooking it up to my MBOX yet. I have Pro Tools 7.4 right now, but since I do not have a working monitorfor my Mac Mini I haven't tried the Axiom on Pro Tools yet.....

I did load up the Live Lite 6 that came with the Axiom, but that is not seeing the axiom either... But the PC loads the drivers and stuff all the time. So I know it is seeing it when I plug it in. The Axiom has worked kinda good with my Motif, but some of the sounds are muffled or completely muted by the settings on the sliders, but I have the feeling that the unit is working fine, I am just not having any luck with it hooked up via USB yet.

I am gonna hook it up to the Mac Mini tomorrow and set it all up in the bed room while my wife is at work so I can see if it is the unit or if my XP pc with SP3 is what is causing the issue... I downloaded and reloaded the drivers from the website numerous times. It may be because of SP3, but I will check tomorrow. Thanks for the assist. I am the worst person on this site when it comes to this pro gear and computers..... Especially DAW's.... Which is weird for me, I am usually good with the computers and such..

Busy bee tomorrow, I am gonna clean up so Doglamp can be happy in my clutterless setup.

Ahh, I am using vista... and it works like a charm. For the DAW's I didn't even need to do anything really... reason was easy, I went in the midi keyboard options and selected the generic m-audio ones and it automatically assigned everything on the keyboard. in fl studio i selected midi in: axiom49 and it worked without needing to do anything else. if I wanted to assign a knob to lets say any volume slider or knob in fl, I just right clicked the thing and chose assign to controller and moved the fader or knob on the axiom and it works.

getting the pads to the desired notes was a bit tougher but I got it after a while.

I have one actually but it was not charged. I got the ryobi setup as a gift and I have about 6 battery packs for the gift pack, so I always have a charged batter for that one... I only break out the Dewalt for big jobs though...

FTR the Axiom works fine on my Mac Mini.... Must be a prob with XP sp3 I guess.

Now back to the pics people.

yo how do you like that desk. the z-line from staples right? its a dope design, but i heard some people complain that its not sturdy enough and the desk warps or sags if you have to much weight on it...you had any of these problems?

^ My dad has one for his radio station. It does sag after time, but he just added some support 2x4's on the front and back underneath. It's pretty sturdy now and doesn't sag.

so the wood is thick enough to drill some 2x4's underneath it? good to know, i'll probley do that right away if i end up getting the desk
