i think one important thing you need to be aware of if you wanna put anything into front of the vp9000 is you need to put in a jumper in the back of the device....tiny plastic bit....when i just plugged the card reader in with ide cable it didnt work.....

i hope i make sense

Minor setup update: Got myself a nice and clean vintage 12 channel mixer with built in spring reverb. Just what I've been looking for for my SP1200 beats! Got it just before finishing the mixes for an upcoming EP on vinyl which I'm looking forward to. Plus I got that nice Ampeg bass amp for my birthday.

Some SP1200 close-ups...

Yo Deck Daddy,

I would like to know more about those TTX´s. What cool features do they have compared to lets say the industry standard 1200? If I ever gonna buy another set of decks its those or vestaxes.

The free way, just unmaximize the main Pro Tools window and stretch it across both screens. The drag the mix/edit windows to what ever screen you want and stretch it to fit. But don't maximize. But, when you close Pro Tools you must use Alt+F4, or else you have to do all that drag and stretch shit every time you boot the program.

The $40 way, buy a program called Skootch and it does all the window positioning automatically for you in less than 2 seconds!

I didn't find a lot of info on it before I picked it up, but it's a Monarch Pro MMX-1200. Well built. 12 channels with phantom and inserts, 3 band fixed EQ, built in spring reverb (Accutronics), one stereo sub mix and a mono mix plus mono monitor mix and multiple sends/returns. Good sounding, and not a single scratchy/noisy fader or pot! I got it in the flight case it had been stored in.

"Cool" features = strong motor, swap between S and straight tone arm, good pitch range with current setting in digit display, start and stop time settings, reverse, built in riaa amp (has a built in bpm counter too that I never use).

Not that cool = Tonearm don't feel nearly as smooth and light as a Tech. The heavy motor makes a lot of hum that the pickup picks up, even when not placed on the vinyl! Don't get a very great sound from this deck, even with a Shure M97xE needle with correct setup. Also had to get both decks repaired a little while ago, as one of the motors died on me and the other had poor connection joints inside that cracked loose. Lastly, I have trouble with them live - I get bass feedback with them all the time on stage.

Do I want to get rid of them some day? YES! For a pair of 1210's whenever I can afford it. I had Techs some years before I got these and I regret selling the 1210s. They sound a lot better for sampling and listening in general, and works good enough for scratching and stuff as well.

Go for Techs. They stand the test of time, and sound good as well!

Of course! I got it from my wife for our wedding, so It'll stick with me. But I don't have room for it in the little studio, so it's in our living room with a small Vox tube amp.
