string synthesizers

i use a roland jx-3p for my strings.
but it sounds like you have more money to throw around and could get something better. any of the older rolands will serve you well.

but how about a prophet 08 -- it does beautiful strings, and much much more.

The truth? Any synth that has a filter and parameters you can tweak should work. I like that synth because not everybody with a Motif & Roland X something has it. As long as you can change the parameters and do some sort of modulation any synth you choose should work. The next thing is budget?...

Someone mentioned a Prophet 08. Love it. I have one in my studio right now. Not mine! A friend of mine has arranged for a masterclass on Ableton and brought his set-up over which includes the 08. It's pricey, but great.

If the price is right on the Six Trak, pick it up. You can always sell it later. Just remember, get in there and try and alter the sound to fit your tracks not the other way around!

synth wise i ve to say i really dig vintage ones... moog prodigy is in the post, cant wait to funk wit it, now thats not a string synth

but if you got Budget of a freakin JUPI 8 man you could kind of get everything synth you want/need thats a hell of an expensive and impressive Synth and you sure wont need anything else synthwise i d think.

but i agree with the poster about the PRE midi ones... crumar,moog(satelitte)arp,... but those are monophoinc again.

anyway i should shut up, i dont really like synth strings anyway, (so 80`s ) so i gave no clue what i am talking about... but if a jupi8 is what you would like and can afford GET IT!!!! they dont get cheaper

im trying to pay 2 for the six trak hopefully that works out waiting for the message back. and then hopefully money for another WOOT!

ive tried reason im not a big fan. i wish i could be seeing as how convenient it is but my computer stutters running reason i dont like it

I feel you, its all preference but honestly an investment in a mac and reason/midi keyboard is a worthwhile investment over a keyboard. your really unlimited as far as sounds goes, but its all subjective.

maybe ill give it a shot.. ill hook my asr up to my computer and demo some reasonS

A Mac and Logic...yes, but not Reason.

Reason just doesn't fit many people.

software can emulate these sounds pretty well. But just go youtube any of those synths and youll see strings in action.

so tierd of this "mac+logic or anything soft" gives you so much more... no pun intendet, but i ve been there... may be personal preferances but if my truth is the truth = GET A FEW REAL INSTRUMENTS over a multimedia power CPU with fancy GUI software wich tries to sound retro.... so lame.

Sovereign, the Prod is pre CV era... one o the oldies, fine with me and i absolutly LOVE it, but its not an allround of course... but the perfect thing actually affordable as being a Monophonic.... i couldnt chop 3k on a minimoog. so i have my ideal substitue.

like the poster above said, ARP SOLINA or SOLOIST if you want THAT lush 70s synth String sounds.

or like i said if you ve got the budget get that Jupiter 8 it will give the best from everything i think... ultra fat bass and strings and and and....

i actually prefer several limited kinda single-purpose Instruments over allrounder nowadays.

and mac is always in sleep mode when i do music.... finaly!!!
