Whose got rid of their MPCs ... and what for ?

+1 to debauch, plus the mpc feels more organic imo, my software beats just dont have that soulful vibe i get from the hardware

Software never works correctly for me. Sequencing drums becomes harder due to latency despite a limitless ppqn. The mpc 1000 works well for me but I'd like to have better drum sequencing.

Haven't got rid of mine but I don't use it much. Been on Reason. My only gripe is the sample choppin on reason.

i dont think i could ever go the software route. the only software music program in terms of production-making i've used is fruity loops and it feels to me like the program is pretty much making the song/beat FOR YOU. with hardware, you have total control over your track. YOU hit the pads, YOU play your own patterns, and software sound can never compare to REAL machine sounds IMO

yeah factory presets will do that

I'd probably sell my MV8000 before I'd sell my MPC2000XL.
And I like my MV.

The mpc would b the very last thing I'd get rid. Still use it for drums and sampling. I just recently started using proteus vx and the korg legacy package that I've had for over a year and never touch. Getting bored wit the phantom. I'd get rid of that before the mpc, but I would love to get a few soft synths to work out with. I hear a lot about reason but idk sht about it. I've been thinkin about coppin it for a better synth.

^^ reason is a great program for original creations... recycle sucks balls for sampling and u cant load anything into reason w/o it being a rex file....

i think if i was stuck with reason then id probably take advantage of buying drums pack just for the format being rex from jump...

but u can do alot with it especially w/ the synths since u can configure them like the old modular systems... if u ever get a chance to play with reason... load all the VI's and hit tab and you'll know what im talking about, lol

other than that.. i think the only soft/sampler i'd rock is GURU

I don't use my mpc much. FL is a great program!

i might get rid of my xl soon, but never the 2500.

the thing i like about the 2500 is the sequencer. this is why i've never liked working on computers, the sequencers lick balls when it comes to sequencing. i know they're more powerful, but it's in the workflow and limitations that gets me busy.

i am very good/quick at chopping on the 2500, but it does take a longish time compared to software alternatives, but to get it back in the mp it works out about even. the only thing i use computer for musically is most time stretching & tracking in pt.

i am thinking about actually buying reason 5, but only to be used as a sound module for synths. i'm gonna try and master/understand my cracked r4 first though. ive never payed for software and i've got them all.. shiit im running a cracked pt8le on my mac for my digi002, works saweet. but reason 5 has me intrigued. and buying it will help me actually want to learn it i think.

96ppqn is rigid. I'd like more ppqn without doubling the tempo. There is no error, just limitation.

Opinions are such wondeful things - inflammatory, even sometimes ... but always grounded in personal experience.
