if all they did was recharge the mpc2500 i'd be happy. update speed(processor), add more memory, maybe sd card, JJOSXL or equivalent (plus ability to add chop markers while sample plays), blue screen, better jog wheel, more low profile volumne knobs, no plastic sides (solid metal or end caps for entire side) USB 2.0 (faster transfer), usb host so you can plug in a usb stick.

well even if they did release another unit... it would for sure not have solid metal sides, better jogs and knobs, and more durable components.... because they dont want their products to last 20 years like the mpc60 is lasting...


cause if it aint broke, dont replace it... and they know it.

Software... Hardware... who cares.

In the end it's the human/machine interface. Isn't it the controller/interface that's the most important part?

Right now automapping is in infancy really, Ableton Live/Reason for all their power still have poor hardware interfaces. Granted the APC-40/Launchpad/Novation controllers are all steps in the right direction but they all only pull you so far in the controller only direction... you still need that damn keyboard/mouse.

I know it gets slagged on (especially around here)... but Maschine is at least a step in the right direction. Definitely not buying it myself... but yeah companies will need to move in this direction.

What we're talking about here is the commoditization of music and it's software. Software is breaking down the barriers for entry but at the expense of the uniqueness and instrumentalization that hardware provides. In a lot of ways with the flood of VSTs I'm seeing it as a good thing. Honestly I think we're past the 'rock bottom' of the 'throw out your hardware/replace with software' and now we're on the way back up for the interface being important again.

Honestly I'm excited to see what the future brings and how it works into my current setup. With any luck I'll be rocking my S950 'til the end regardless of what next innovation turns up next. I'd be more than happy to be able to see my MPC 500/1k (or any other MPC) to be kicking it around in there too.

who cares if you need to look at a computer screen to use ableton? if that really did bug you then you wouldn't even be on this forum.

akia dont seem to have a vision since numark took over the 2000xl se was cool and the 2500 but everything else they did was kinda lackluster.

its inevitable they gonna copy maschine's pc integration

im thinking by the time maschine gets to version 2 and beat thang comes out in 2011 akai gonna have some catching up to do.

as far as big companies that make products that hip hop dudes can mess with maschine came thru cos they listen to user requests.

and korg with the micro range defo come thru but they should make extra effort to listen cos with a few tweeks the good products they have put out would have been great such as the microkorg, korg esx1, microsampler

Sorry if I rubbed you the wrong way man (if I'm reading your response right)... that quote was probably the most boring part of the entire post too.

Nothing wrong with computer screens/mice/keyboards. I give them all the respect they deserve and don't take them for granted. Probably half the post was just me being exhausted from sitting in front of them all day and enjoying the ability to unplug when I get a chance to drop some beats at home.

Take it easy and keep dropping beats however you want... much respect!

i lo key wouldnt be amazed if they put out a TOUCH SCREEN mpc like device out there! i dont doubt it one bit. would love to see how it looks!

You can't replace velocity sensitve pads with a touch screen, so they'd have to have both.

I could see the OS being managed well with a touch screen though.

one day well have an amazing machine with monitors built into a computer with pads and keys .. technology will only make it more portable universal and easier =]]

sorry man, I noticed now that it kind of seemed directed at you but in actuality it was in general... the "gotta use a mouse" thing is very frequent around here and what I more or less meant is that people go to great lengths to work around touching a mouse even if it means it creates more work...

I know what you meant, but the odd part is the complaints are often by people who are on computers anyways...

this aint the USB1.0 days anymore with controller latency...

I think they should make another mpc60 12 bit sampler...

-but give it a gig of ram at least...

-pad bank system like the MV has and make it at least 8 banks

-all the audio output options in the original, metronome included, also more send/returns

-stereo sampling, but the internal drum mixer should have EQ/sweep and stereo channels that stereo samples go to automatically. that drum mixer would have a page 2 with output routing

-resampling function, but like the 2500 has... not the type the 2000xl has.

-while the floppy would be nice for getting your old projects you got lying around... we would need some current media for saving... USB key would be nice... and the ability to use external hard drives and even passport style powered usb drives would be sweet.



something like that would be pretty nice even if it wont happen. wouldn't it be sweet if we could stop calling them wakai unprofessional once again?
