People have it currently running on Linux (with some latency issues I think), but it's not in development for OS X. FL Studio is written in something called Delphi and relies 100% on the Windows API. The FAQ on Image Line's site estimates it would take them 300 months (Deckadance's port time x 50) to change the instruction sets. Basically they would have to start 100% from scratch to make an OS X version, not impossible, but obviously they're not willing to do it. Some of their more recent VST's were coded using cross platform tools which is why some of them are dual format, while others aren't.

Whether you go with Mac or PC (both with Bootcamp on Mac), Reaper might be a good multitrack host at only $60. Logic is more expensive, but includes some excellent instruments.

I feel that the PC/internet stability thing is a remnant of the Windows 98/early XP days. On some Windows laptops the wifi messes the audio interface, but even that is getting rare, and I can't remember the last time I saw a Windows desktop DAW have an issue with being connected to the internet.

A Macbook with Windows on Bootcamp with FL, whatever you want on the OS X side, MPC 1000 as the main MIDI sequencer, might be a good look for you NightReveller.

yes you are likely right that a port would take more time then writing a new daw application for osx. The thing is though, they will likely do something for mac computers just due to the business of making money etc... I'm wondering if their groove machine will wind up being standalone and available for apple. Not that I use apples or be using the groove machine but that seems fairly standalone and designed to be low latency etc.

I hadn't seen the Groovebox, I just checked out the video, looks dope. Sort of like some cross between a Roland x0x and and an Elektron (they even stole the font ). All Image Line's recent synths have been coded dual format, so I bet this is definite on OS X.

yeah i was thinking the same thing hahaha (about the design "influence" hahaha)

I was disappointed they didn't show the sampling part though because at the start of the vid they said it was a drum sampler synth machine. This video could have been for drumaxx or what ever that recent roland style drum machine was called.... honestly I wish they would stop screwing around and make a fruit kick 2 that has more options to tweak the sound especially some params that make the 808 sounding bass easier to layer with other kicks etc... because I find myself still needing to filter the shit out of it even when the click knob is on the lowest setting.

It's only $39, and I think there's a demo, there's definitely a lite free version there. It let's you load one sample in to layer with the synthesis. Synapse's EKS-Pro is a cool kick drum synth too, more basic but spits out typical booming kicks quicker than the AM Kicklab. The Kicklab goes more places though.
