yeah it can be okay... but it takes a while to figure out how much of it is required and where it should be increased and decreased... okay you can add wetness in the fx send, but you can also in the output stage of the effect alter how much of the effect within the fx processor goes through (it doesn't make much sense until you see it in person to know what I mean) .. but also you really have to tweak the distance (near) in the reverb params, the decay length... and especially the high and low dampening ... otherwise you wind up with that metalic tin like sound you were talking about with your 404.

So it can be alright sometimes... (often it depends on the sample) and you can make a normal plain beat sound really wide and roomey... but it takes more work often than it would on the computer.... that is especially the case with samples that have high attack like high hats and things.... string samples or flutes.. or things like that tend to sound fine with almost no tweaking in comparison to other samples.
