Strange that nobody feels offended.... :hmmm:

I am glad that you are such a pro yourself...

dont C reason to be offended...this prolly reason why I like hardware beats over computer beats, there's different feel. computer beats tend to be over-polluted with shit while hardware beats are catchy head noddn funk...this stands out to me the most when comparing software based production vs hardware. that dont mean hardware beats cant be over complciated or that software beats cant be simiplistic. but more often than not they aint

I use the mpc for making beats sometimes because I want to avoid doing what koncept just said.

I started out with hardware but i switched to fruity loops due to a job loss. I don't like swag or trap beats but I found myself mostly making them on fruity loops because it was hard to make anything else sound good. Now Im back to hardware(Mpc Renaissance, roland xv-5050, proteus 2000 and kurzweil pc361) and i am making g-funk and hip hop again. I can make J-dilla type shit with the quickness now. Fruity loops is too programmy and choppy. The sound quality is too computerized and childish. I'm pretty sure you can make fruity loops sound like hardware but it takes way to long. Wouldn't that be killing the point of having the speed of fruity loops? I wouldn't recommend fruity loops unless you just make trap and swag beats.

you have absolutely no clue what you are talking about... the sound quality? dude, if you have a piece of trash sound card, everything running on your computer will sound like that piece of trash sound card... including the mpc you track into it.

you put in no effort cause you are too lazy to use gear properly... then you deserve to have everything you make sound like garbage swag trap beats. That is the penalty of not knowing how to use a piece of gear (in this case, that piece of gear is a computer with software... not just fruity loops...) and not taking the time to learn it. Fl studio is one of the fastest ways to make beats period out of any gear...

and that is coming from an mpc60 user.

+1

The hardware beats are ALWAYS better, cause you have to use more body movement.

Body movement = more sweat = more proskillz beats ;)

I absolutely agree. 95% of the world don't know how to make fruity loops jam like you do. You are the elite 5%. You should open up your own tutorial website. It would've saved me a shit load of money cause i get fruity loops and vsts for cheap. It would also save help mainstream producers to stop sounding the same. With your power you can change the whole music game. I don't mean to get off the subject but you should give the Mpc renaissance a try. It's like the fruity loops and keyboards and sound module becomes like vst's. It has the speed of software, maybe except fruity loops in your case.

Stick to FL Studio, cop a good controller and youre all good. If you really want this kind of a system though I would definitely recommend Maschine over the Ren any day. (Owned that too for a while).

Thanks man,

I'm pretty sure now that i'm not gonna buy it.
I found out most MPC users make really simplistic music anyway.
While i like to make add a lot of keyboards in my beats.
But i need a good soundcard still.
I think i'm gonna get a used M-Audio ProjectMix + MPD 32 than.

I wish Akai made a cool new MPD with the LED's etc. like on the Renaissance.
Or even better make a FL Studio controller. I mean it's the most used music software in the world.

Maybe you should take a second look at Mpc users

what's there not to know? you got your copy on pirate bay... you installed it... you added the crack to the registry... you double clicked the icon on the desktop... you went into the options to tell fl where your sample folders are.... now the rest is up to you and the samples you pick. drag/drop a good one... make a beat. It's easy to do... I dont need to do a tutorial when there is no secret. I just wrote the entire part of the process that may be hard to figure out....

additional tips:
-try the wave traveler for chopping samples... it's fast and easy to use... you can do dozens of slices on what ever sample you drag into it.
-download free VSTs from google searches (type in freeware vsti) or get komplete from TPB
-if you use the step sequencer (not as good as piano roll) then shift the notes in the drop down menu at the top right of the pattern... you know... for that swing/shuffle

not sure what that means, but fruity loops already is like fruity loops... it can apparently handle more sound modules and vsts... and the ren has a limit of what? 4 vst fx per pad... and with a rigmarole you can get some more to effect a sound on a pad through some loophole.... yeah, i'll stick to unlimited vst fx that I can send unlimited sounds to... thanks. The only reason for that is because on the computer.. I use a lot of effects to shape field recordings and stuff I make from scratch... I use fx for sculpting sounds... not just for adding thump to kick drums. The ren is just too expensive for what you get in my opinion... I was watching close to see what the ren would be like at launch, and then I went and bought an arcade machine.

For me its always been hardware, I been fiending on hardware ever since I began to make music for fun in the 90s. I stuck with software downloading vsts etc but it was only 2 years ago that I brought a mpc. It was backwards in some aspects but **** me was it good creating a beat, slicing and shit. I take that than the years I was stuck like some broke ass student making wack shit on reason. THough my beats are still whack :fku:

what ever... when I first got reason 2 years back... I spend like a month trying to badly wire the rack gear to see what kind of noise it would make

Finally!! Get'em Mr. D. I dont know why people are always bashing FL Studio and chalk it up to "trap" beats only. Its stupid. Its like saying that everyone who uses MPC's are going to make sampled stuff. No. Its tons of people who have their MPC 2kS midi'd up to Korg Tritons and keyboards! Therefore, I can use FL Studio to make sampled stuff. You have to learn to use what works for you. I can make a beat quickly in FL Studio. I had an MPC 2KXL and it was like working backwords. It took minutes to chop stuff and to render it. It was a hassle just to find drums in folders. It was so counterproductive to MY workflow. Plus, just because Mr_D uses FL studio like I do doesnt mean we make the same beats. We dont even use it the same. (He uses Wavetraveler, I use Edison/FL Slicer, and others use SliceX) I also have Deckdance wired into my mixer so that I can scratch hooks into my beats. End all, Its not what you have, but how you use it. Now (jumps off soapbox) lets go make some beats.

Ha same thing here, I did not what the heck I was but pressing tab in Reason was a revelation. This was when I first started with music and I was like 14 and didn't have a clue. FUn times for sure but there's something intuitive and right for me producing on a mpc than on reason despite the mass of sonic potential.

my average fl project looks like 15 wave travelers, a buzz generator adapter, and sometimes other synths... well most of the time. But I pretty much never make a beat without a wave traveler... even if it isn't sampled material, sometimes I resample something like a cut (section or a couple of bars of my current melody) just so I can pitch it on the WT, and make cuts even more.... it's similar to the way the 2000xl works except it's NDC. It has that direction/speed envelope to mess with too but I never really do.
