Yeah the voyager is midi'd up to the MPC. but a couple of these were just played directly into logic and its easier that way to use mulitple parts as opposed to sequencing and resampling in the MPC.

As for the CV expansion. I've not checked it out yet. planning to at some point.

This probably applies to all midi synths but, I found when you start recording the knob movements, pitch bend etc to your MPC, the Voyager spits out an awful lot of data which swamps your note on / note off messages as they appear on your track in step edit.
To make editing my notes easier, I record the knob movements etc to an adjacent track on the mpc, set to send the same midi channel.

Just something I discovered for myself that works.

^^theres also a function in the master menu that allows you to drop the bit depth of the midi sent from the knobs/touchpad from 14-bit to 7-bit. This helped a lot with my midi issues. Without dropping the bit depth, the voyager makes my 2KXL go bonkers, lol. (That's why I was asking, hahaha)

Incidentally, Did you notice that the Filter section is actually the Filters section, In that there are two filters to play with?
Try setting it to Dual Lowpass and playing with the Spacing control while you adjust Cutoff and Resonance. Plugging in headphones to listen through really shows up what this does. If this is new to you , the stereo effect will be a revelation !

Yeah that was a huge selling point for me. I love that because I wanted a mooger fooger low pass filter for a while. so oh yeah use that. the spacing knob is really dope. ive run beats thru it the dual low pass filter. love it.

Stereo or big mono is hard for me to mix bass sounds, everything else is fine.If you come out of the right output, it is only one filter, closer to the model D. Lately I have been coming out of the left output back into the audio in. I was told by the Moog guy not to use the headphone trick on the Voyager and use the output instead.

I have been telling myself to hook up my moogerfoogers, I have to learn this cp251. I got the other foogers on a Roland MKS 80.

I've heard that too. I understand that it has something to do with the voltage on the headphone out that could possibly damage the external input. But its just so nice to have that headphone volume control in addition to the actual external input level control. But I have been avoiding the headphone trick because of the fear of ruining anything.

I will have to work my way around to the moogerfoogers. right now I am just enjoying voyager itself. I think I will eventually get the CP but when it comes to mooger fooger effects pedals I have too hard of a time choosing.

Adding a crazy oscillator (like a Harvestman Piston Honda or a Synthtech Morphing Terrarium) will take your Moog to a whole new dimension. Then add a quality filter or two so you can make your Moog sound less like a Moog, and more like a Polivox, Wasp, Buchla, Xpander, MS-20, Pro-1 or other legendary synth that didn't feature a 24db/oct ladder filter. Between a new oscillator, a filter or two, and some voltage controlled effects, you can have a whole lot of new functionality (and, more importantly, SOUND) with just a few modules.

If you were to buy the VX+CP and just a handful of modules, you'll really discover a whole new universe. The Voyager was just the beginning.

But I was just looking at the Gear Slutz guy "crazy oscillator " recommendation Harvestman Piston Honda

Wavetable oscillator with variable interpolation resolution. Two ROMs are onboard, each containing 256 waveforms in 16 banks. Waves may be smoothly morphed or violently jumped in two dimensions. It's up to you. The degree of discontinuity these waveform changes is voltage controllable.

Instead of using the internal Piston for waveform lookup, why not plug in an external oscillator or anything else? You can also use a gate input to instantly toggle between ROM chips.

side note. there comes a point when you can get so deep into this stuff where attention is taken away from the music and placed on tech. for now im rocking my voyager as is in order to get to know it. there is plenty of time for getting CV crazed i guess.

i'll second that... analog synths >>>>>>>> virtual synths... anyone who wants to "argue" different probably hasn't had a proper sit down on a real synth... not talking about your microkorgs.

now computers spitting midi data into real synths and recording it back in to the computer... priceless.

Got this in the mail for the voyager... actually is a keychain but I think its the same as the ones that were sent to all voyager owners as an anniversary gift replacement for the filter knob
